FT Spitfire
First flight of my kit-built Flite Test Spitfire....
(Excuse the strong language, it was pretty nerve-wracking for us both!)

I'm like you, Daren. I taught myself to fly in the hay field outside my backdoor in east Texas. I don't know what to do with the leftover wheels and landing gear. We may never know about that part of RC flying.

I taught myself using the Eachine warbirds such as the P-51 Mustang and T-28 Trojan. Great little planes! Got the Messerschmitt 109 now, and just waiting on the Spitfire arriving!

On my maiden flights I let the plane climb a lot higher than you did following the rule '3 mistakes high'. I hope not make a mistake but I like to know that if the plane does something unexpected I stand a chance to sorting it out.
I don't always video the maiden but if I do any low passes 'for the camera' only come towards the end of the flight when I have some confidence I know how it behaves.
Just saying.
