A question on covering my [lane/ As I've stated the model will have a all up weight of about 2.5 to 3 lbs after finishing, but nor covered. Will regular Monokote be good enough or should I use a lighter weight covering from a different source. Many thanks.

If it was my plane I would cover it with Monokote and not worry about it.
Monokote can be a bit overpowering for lightweight flimsy structures like the old Gillows kits, but my Mini ultra Stik has a strong wing.
On a thermal glider, I use lightweight coverings.
