Default My 3D trainer---Scratchbuilt Contest #2

Well i always wanted to learn 3D flying so i decided to build my own design, but it is different in which it hides the prop from the front(so i dont break any!) so yeah got a simple drawing of what it should look like, ill build prototypes and if they're successfull ill make a plan for them. So everyone can have a Shrike

Well it flew but about 6 times, then its life got cut short, because of a tree, and it also killed my only 40amp esc! so now ive got no power to fly any 3D planes, hopefully i can get the little motor smoke gave me and the esc to work right without heating up, ill see if i can make somethign from that it wont be no 3D flyer though... ive got a short video showing this plane in action and the finished pics.

Hey GA,
That's a cool plane
Man, doesn't it look like something from a Batman movie? Paint that hummer black and stripe some red around the outter edges of the wing and BAM! ya got his plane.

You have some seriously gorgeous land out there in the NY......now, if it wasn't so ungodly cold out there I'd move yesterday! (I freeze at a frosty 58deg haha lol)

---Ray (warm in Chino, for now)

Hey GA, really cranking up the creative juices here arent ya man? Thats a cool looking plane man! How'd you get the CG figured out, or where abouts did it balance?

FYI, sharpies are pretty cheap (16 for 7 bucks at foodlion) and do an ok job on foam. Best part is no worries of it eating the foam. Also, dry erase markers work good for drawing your designs on the plane, til you find the one you want.

Good luck getting it fixed and flying again man. looks like a fun plane

yeah the next version will be better with airfoil and all, its just my esc died, this time its not a propeller problem but just esc lol. So yeah im waitin on that, now ive got to build this bird here:

still got the swordfish to do but i think i will create something else for that a fantasy Schneider racing float plane somewhat like the one above.

About the CG i just strap the battery behind the motor pretty much, just make sure that when you drop your plane from a level drop like hold it by its CG and drop it, no forward toss, it should nose forward. But yeah it was great, 3/4 throttle threw it went straight up good ol' 2409-12s
