Default AR500 Receiver output pulse info

This was the closest forum for this topic I could find, so hope someone can help out.

I am driving a micro controller off an output channel on a AR500 receiver.

I am powering the RX with 5 volts as well as the micro controller.

I can see a nice Pulse Width modulated signal that changes as I run the transmitter from one limit to the other on that channel.

The problem is the pulse is only 3 volts, not 5 that I would have expected.

The RX works fine in my Apprendtice airplane, so it must be OK, but does anyone know if 3 volts is right? Spec sheets give precious little real tecnhical info.

Thanks

Somewhere around 3-3.5V is fairly normal for many RXs and well within the input specifications of most microcontrollers.

There's no way you can ever get a complete 0-5V swing when the Rx is only powered from 5V and AFAIK most Spektrum receivers run internally from a 3.3V regulator so 3V is about your lot.

BTW either the RC Radios forum or Electronics Workshop forum might have been considerably more appropriate since this has nothing at all to do with Power Systems....but it seems to have worked .
