Default F-108 Rapier Build

Here’s an F-108 Rapier inspired by one of the off-the-wall planes I posted in the "EDF Jet manufacturer wants your opinion" topic, and the SU-27 XXL design.

22 inches. The planned power will be two GWS EDF40s running the stock brushed motors. Please excuse the parts alignment, they’re only held on with Scotch tape in the pics.

Do I need to add doubler(s) to the nose section forward of the wing to keep it from snapping off in a rough landing?

F-108 background: Cancelled 2-seat mach 3 escort fighter for the XB-70. Same engines as the XB-70.

HEY!!!! Ok you build it. I'll watch. Great bird. Great build.

Go ahead and lesson the profile look. Add some dimension to it. You will thank me later.

If you need any help email me. Built my fair share of scratch built jets out of every possible material and style there is.

Yeah, more dimension would be nice. I've decided to add doublers to both sides of the nose. Either more depron or maybe thin balsa. Droop the wing tips a tiny bit too.

Flies well on the 2 stock EDF 40s. It's not going to go vert but still has plenty of power to feel comfortable.

Read about the crazy test flight results here...

Mods were made (shorter nose and larger fin) and it flies good now, but I was mistaken on the power of the 2 stock EDF 40s. It's moderately underpowered.

I'd size it up for twin microfans or maybe 60mm Alfa's a huge power increase
