nihms are good to start out with because they survive crashes better.once you get the hang of it though lipo batterys will give you the best performance & bang for your buck.cant beat hobbycity prices on them-http://www.hobbycity.com/hobbycity/s...5&ParentCat=85

Gramps2161, How does the quality of that charger look? I have been thinking of getting one. Did it come with all of the ballancing plugs? (plugs to ballance Li-Pos) Are the directions easy to understand? What was your first impresion of it?

Thanks, Andrew

Gramps.. Pm sent..

I'm just curious..

Reading up on the manual. It seems like you have to plug the balancing cable and the power cable on the battery to the charger.. I'm used to charging my Lipos using a balancer in between the charger and battery.. So, I've only charged my Lipos through the balancing cable..

Am I missing something..

I just got the charger myself and I don't want to blow nothing up..

the manual explained it clearly.. I just worry.. I have yet to use it and I have had it for 5 days now.. I have 2 planes waiting on their maidens because I have yet to charge my Lipos..

were the you connect the battery to the dean plug there are five slots the top slot next to the red output is were you plug in the white lead off the battery it has 3 pins that is what my 2 cell lipos have don't know if a 3 cell has more pins or not but make sure you have them lined up right so you don't damage them, they only can go in one way. my 2 cell lipo i didn't balance the first charge did it the second time.

Ok, so..

The battery's dean connector is plugged into the chargers deans connector and the balancing connector is also plugged into the charger via the 3 or 4 pin plug?

Time to build me a PC Power Supply..

Last night I charged 5 3c batteries using my car. I forgot to run my car after the 3rd battery just to see if it would crank..needless to say, I didn't..

I charge 5 batteries and when I went to start my car.. I guess it need more than 10v to crank up.. it was dead!

I will go to Radio Shack and by a 10W 10ohm sand bar resistor and 3 sets of banana jacks.. That's all I need to start my Power Supply Mod to charge my batteries from now on..

I recieved my Turnigy-6 charger last week. What a nice unit. It is small, quiet, and easy to use. The main reason for me was, I wanted a unit to charge everything I have and ballance my Li-Po's. This will charge / ballance them and allow you to look at the voltage of each cell while charging. How cool. It came with every cord and plug you could ever need. No need to make any.

I cut off the stock clips and made a plug that I can use with my portable jump box. I plug the charger into the jump box and use it to charge what ever I need. Weather at home or at the field. I use the wall wart to keep the jump box charged. It will not over charged and is always ready to go. I keep all of my chargers plugged into a power strip that I keep on a timer. Every day at 8:30 pm everything gets a 30 min charge.

Hi there I have ordered one of these and am waiting for it to arrive. I'm sure I read that you can program it to shut off, if the input voltage gets too low, thus not draining your car too much.

I never so this in the instructions, post it if you have the instructions on how to do this. My luck I would drain my battery.

Default Instructions

Fey Gramps, what instructions do you need.
I have the latest instructions for what seems to be the generic 6 cell charger with a balancer built in. Best of all of the instructions I have yet seen
Let me know if you need a set.

ya I would be interested in programing it to shut off before the battery in my truck dies. I didn't see that in the downloaded instructions from HK.
