Hi Steve,
There's quite a few of us out in Montana,Idaho, Wyoming area with similar distances.

You might be able to arrange a meeting place at the halfway point if your next pilot is willing.

You could also try to tie in some other activity/event to make the driving even more worth it. I might try to make a little vacation out of my transfer by camping or hoteling a night with my wife and getting in a hike or canoe outing.

If it's about gas money, please don't hesitate to get some help from the WAA-08 fund--If I remember correctly, anyone with over 50 miles is eligible for assistance.

Steve,

We have a little time before the WAA-08 plane gets to you. I'm sure we can recruit a few more pilots in your area before then. I'm sure you have to know a few guys there in Fl willing to participate. Even if they are only 25 miles further east, that's a start.

I sent an email out to ALL WAA-08 pilots and WAA-08 AP pilots. Please let me know if you did not receive an email from me yesterday.

Thanks,

You are welcome Steve. I am sure we will find some more pilots in your area before it's time. You might also consider using the generic press release I sent you and sending that in to the paper to help recruit some pilots.

Default News From Pilot #18

He says:

Hi guys,

I have some good news.

I was able to get to field around an hour ago. The rain had stopped, and I figured that I should give it another shot. I got to the field and it was a little windy (maybe 10mph), but I went for it anyway. I put the wing on, turned on the Tx, plugged the battery into the ESC, and checked if everything was working properly. I was now ready to fly. I taxied around, lined the plane up, and gave it full throttle. The Squirt took off. I then brought it up to about 20 feet and did a wide turn. The Squirt was getting thown around, so I brought it in. The landing was kind of sloppy, so I had to wipe some dirt off of the plane. The whole flight lasted about 30 seconds, but overall it was a successful flight.

Here are some pictures:

We have handoff! I got Squirt 2 from Bill this afternoon. He's a great kid and did a great job sneaking in a flight in between bad weather. My plan is to fly it Wednesday evening (just happens to be our club meeting), then pass it to #20 in the next few days.
It's on the move again.

Frank

ALERT dont send the WAA-08 to this Member, TheDustyPagan, it may be the last time you see it

Although I hate to convict someone without hearing both sides of the story, it does look like there is evidence to suggest that Tim may not be on the up and up.

I have a guy in Tallahassee wanting to sign up. Is that close enough for you?

Hey -- can someone tell me (for certain) who I'll be receiving from, and who I'll be delivering to?

Why? Are you trying to schedule your 2009 summer vacation?

I think the 101 day schedule is long gone at this point. I know that Frank originally was hoping to get the plane across the northern states before temperatures turn cool. That may or may not still happen, but it will be a challenge for sure. In any case, Oklahoma is a long way off under that plan.

I'm looking forward to my turn, but there are well over 100 pilots to fly it before then.

BTW, cudos to Frank for keeping this thing going. I'll bet it has been harder than he ever imagined.

Guy,

If I knew what time, I would be able to pick the next Mega millions' numbers. Two times in the row.

As far as the pilot before and after you, it is too early to tell as we might get some more pilots in your area. I am also thinking about heading south after it gets to Don so the WAA-08 plane can avoid the winter months up North. It has definitely been going a lot slower than expected.

Thanks Doug. I don't know if I expected this to be any harder or easier, but I did expect the pilots to fly and move it along more quickly. On the other side of the coin, I am very surprised by the willingness of all involved to give their time, energy and money to help support the project.

Ahhhh -- okay, that explains things a little better... Looking at the map, there were lots of pilots around me, but I couldn't tell what direction she was traveling...

Okay -- I'll just kick back and wait my turn.

That would be best. All I know for sure that it is going to be a while before you see it. You might even be a new LHS owner before the plane makes it to you.

Not at all. You would be surprised what some of the occupations are that are registered WAA-08 pilots.

Default NEAT Coordination

I'm trying to figure out who the closest pilot is to NEAT and see if they would like to take the WAA-08 plane to it and fly it during the noon time demos.

Looks like Neal H (pilot #28) is just down the road from it. I asked him if he would like to fly the plane during one of the noon time demo flights.

I'll let you know what he says.

Really? We might just need one. I need to confirm the pilot and have him register for the noon time demo flights. Hopefully we'll get this firmed up by this weekend.

I understand Bill Stevens might be there also. I have emailed him to confirm.

It would be neat if the SQuiRT could make it to Arizona right around the end of January, just in time for the Arizona Electric Festival. Bill Stevens himself could fly her during a Noon demo. And myself too of course.
