Default Pictures of new runway at Mt. Moriah R/C Airport

We broke ground and started work on the runway and road bed at the new Mt. Moriah R/C club and airport. All of the dirt work on the runway is done and is now ready for the finish work and planting of grass. The weather was too nice to pass up so I took off and got a few shots of the work. I also got some video and I will post it after I get a chance to edit it. For more information on Mt. Moriah R/C club and airport in Obion, TN follow the link below. We hope to be open for flying by the end of summer.

great pics, AP is a good way to keep tabs on the progress

I bought the land several years ago for just one purpose. To build a great R/C airport. I also bought the land and house next to it.
I got tired of the same old club problems (no help from members, dues, clicks). So I have build my own field and started a club that has no dues, just come on out, fly and have a good time is all I ask. Anyone with an AMA card can fly as long as they have a good time.

Thanks for the kind words. I hope to open for flying about the end of August and if any of you are in the area on a weekend stop by and enjoy the field.

Geeze, with this attitude, can you move to Western NY? I'd like free access to that place

Good God. Put the rate to $600 and you've got a deal.

What a great flying field/airport!!

Flying fields are scarce here, except for private clubs. If you were thinking of *ahem* buying some land for an airport in the North Myrtle Beach/Calabash/Ocean Isle area, I could put you up for a night or two.

EDIT: Nice video! Cool flight and that field looks great.

yikes, gmaps says ABOUT 10 hours 1 minute.... I love how they say about, and then get it down to that last minute.

If I'm up that way, I'll be sure to pack a plane or two.

That was a hill and they needed some dirt to fill in the south end of the runway. It was a 7 ft drop in grade, so they needed a bunch of fill dirt. Here is a picture of it now that it has been planted.

rc, will you be allowing full sized aircraft to land there? I could try to convince the boss to take a little side trip with his new cirrus....

Sure, if you think you can stop it in 500 feet without putting skid marks in my new grass. We can put a few rubber bands together and see if we can shoot it into the air in the same 500 feet. Come on down.

That would be cool. I could use it as a radio impound.
