Default Tricopter ESC position help needed

Hi all

Please excuse the Noobie question, I am building a Tricopter and need a bit of help Regarding the position of the ESC on the boom arms, what's best

1. Close to the motor with long battery leads.
2. Close to the Battery with long Motor leads
3. Around the middle of the arm equal distance between Motor & Battery
4. It makes no difference

Thanks for any help with this

Paul

Depends on the size of the esc and the area available near the boom and platform join.

Most DIY's Iv'e seen in the 300 class and larger, the builder tried to get the esc attached as close to the boom (and bottom) of the main PC platform as possible....more than likely as far out of harms way related to (rotor strikes, ground moisture and such).

If you have the boom length and an esc connection point, bottom middle to as close to center body as you can get.....That's my recommendation.

Moving the mass towards the center makes more sense in relation to moment arm and agility. But often the wires weigh as much as the circuit board. Still inboard protects them when the arms are damaged in crashes.

Most of the time i use longer wires to the motors than to the battery (distribution board). Which tricopter are you building?
