Default Aviation Movies I Own

Since the other thread I started, went horribly astray, in a good way.

We're growing an aviation movie list that I never expected to grow so large.

So, here I thought I would start one on just the movies we actually own.

Here I go...

Above and Beyond

Air America

The Aviator

The Aviator (the one about Howard Hughes)

The Battle of Brittian

Behind Enemy Lines

The Blue Max

The Dawn Patrol

Flight of the Phoenix (the original)

Flyboys

The Great Waldo Pepper

OneSixRight (I only have this through iTunes, I wish I bought it on DVD, I hear bad things about movies via iTunes)

Pearl Harbor (I have it around here somewhere...)

Sky Captain and the World of Tomorrow

Space Cowboys

Tuskegee Airmen

The ones in italics are the ones I need to add to the other list, that I only remembered because I searched through my pile of movies.

(I left out all of my documentaries, and tried to limit this to strictly "hollywood" works.)

Whew! I was worried there for a moment as to whether or not you had included Flight Of The Phoenix. That one's a must have for anyone who likes flying "Toy Airplanes"!

I'm not sure if this one would qualify or not, but how about Fly Away Home starring Jeff Daniels and the pre-rogue Anna Paquin?

naw... there's still plenty more out there, and you're more than allowed to post movies other people own.

Do you want just aviation movies or can it just have planes in it? such as...
Snakes on a plane
Turbulence
Forever young
Passenger 57
Flightplan
October sky (about rockets but that's another hobby of mine)
stuff like these?

I would include any movie where the plane was essential to the plot.

I had Tora Tora Tora in my hands yesterday, but I skipped it for that round of purchases.

I ended up buying The Dawn Patrol, and Space Cowboys though.

You still got a flying vid then. Tora was a great film for it's time. I love the bit where the flying instructor is with a pupil in a Stearman (I think) and suddenly they are surrounded by the Japanese. The facial expressions are classic. Were the Japanese planes modified Harvards by the way? Just out of interest I have a friend who flew in Australia many years ago and he swears that he met the instructor in question.
