I hear that. I designed and built my family a new home in 2002, then I figured out I would have to continue working as a full time union carpenter until I would be at least 85 years old, to pay for it. Lived in it 6 years then moved.

Good move.

I was also also a Union Carpenter in Oregon from 91-97. Then I moved to Az and did a career change. Is Or./Wa Carpenters still an entity? I know I left a bunch of $$$ in retirement funds, but never got vested.

Default M.E.N.S Trainer

M.E.N.S Trainer

Did a web search and found this site.

I have a complete kit, in it's box, wraped in 1980 newspaper with large blueprint style and booklet instructions.

Having did some research on the kit, I would be open to sell it to a good home.

I feel as a novice with about 2 hours RC flying over 40 yrs, it might be better to go to someone that would appreciate it kit.

Failing that I will take a crack of building it myself.

I don't know about WA & OR being an entity, I joined in 78 but quit in 80 and then rejoined in 98 and worked until 2009. I think I have 12 years of credit in my retirement, which pays me $1100 per month. Tacoma local 470.
My dad had 55 years in 470 when he passed, but some jerk employer told dad he was paying all the union fees. He did not and it broke the chain of retirement years and dad lost a lot of his retirement income.
Around 2007 or 08 the international came in and reorganized almost the entire Puget Sound carpentry locals. They said it was a cost-cutting thing. Maybe it did save money, but then canned many people in the different offices including two good friends of mine.
That's not the worst. Tacoma local 470 totally owned a large park, campground, boat ramp, and baseball fields. It had been paid for by a small cost per hour worked. it began a long time ago, so the park was paid for, The small fee covered a caretaker and maintenance. We could camp there for a very low price.
When they reorganized the locals into large ones, they seized the park. At that time it was worth millions. We felt we should have had the value of the park returned to us figured by the number of hours paid in. We got nothing.
