Default Klimaxx 3D Foamy

Here's my newest 3D foamie. EPS foam core milled and cored with 2mm sheeting and some carbon tube reinforcements. There is no twist at all in the tailfeather area. That's one of the tests in this model-see how stiff I can make it. Something about a flexy foamie that drives me nuts. My flying needs all the help it can get and I don't need to watch the tail surfaces flex, especially in a hover. Need to finish off the paint job with some more red and black on the fuse. Also milling out a battery recess. The ESC is hidden behind the firewall. Nothing like a bunch of unsightly wires and junk hanging off the fuse. Keeps most of it tucked away from sight. More later....
Specs:
40" WS
18oz. AUW
MicroDan 2510-3D/ GWS 11 x 7 DD prop
Fusion-Pack 11.1v 1300mah 25c
4 x Futaba 3114's

Thanks Son of Alpea. Got some more paint to add to the fuse, red on top and some black on bottom. Then sharpie details. More pics later. Got to get some more done before the big game tommorrow...
EDIT: Here's a pic of the stab reinforcements I promised. Maybe overkill but it ain't gonna flex too much! Highly recommended for 40"+ sized foamies. Doesn't add that much weight and it beats watching your stab flex in the propwash. Only added about 3-4grams with tube and rod stock/glue. Some balsa triangle stock is a good idea for the TE of fixed stab and rudder too. Small dia. rods slotted into both sides. Also recommend micro pin hinges as well for 6mm+ depron foamies. Good luck and keep 'em flyin'!

Default Klimaxx 3D finished!

Got equipment installed and went for a test flight. That almost turned out bad. ESC couldn't handle 4 servos at once and lost RX for a few seconds. Fortunately got back power and landed real quick. Doooh! Ordered a UBEC to power servos so will have to wait for it to show up to do some flight testing. Also ordered some Rhino 1350 3s 25c packs to try out. Great price so I won't be too sad when they finally go flat and have to chuck them. More later...

Thanks for the kind words, Griffindor. Hard to believe I know, but yes I built it! It's 5/8" EPS foam core milled and holed for some weight savings skinned with 2mm depron. Might have to shift the motor mount aft and maybe loose some area in the fuse or wings after testing. Still waiting on HC to send my packs and UBEC(where are they dangit? Been long enough...)Should have the rest of my equipment next week so I'll be able to do some flight testing. Got a quickie in before the ESC cut out-won't take the servo load. Oh well, I like a little more voltage to my servos for faster response anyway. Been shooting 6v to the last Clik and Bipe-X and it makes them that much more responsive. Worth the few extra grams over regular 4.8v power.
