You could try the Blade's or T-rex's. Also many others but those 2 are probably the most popular. do you already have the gear to go in it? servo's, radio, Etc.?

That's going to be hard to do with what you've told us. 3D, RTF, and under $500. I guess you could go smaller, like a Honeybee. actually I think the blade's are rtf for around that. give me a sec let me find a link...

It kinda is. It's a little smaller than the T-rex, about the same size as my Walkera 60, but I wouldn't recommend the 60 unless you had a different radio to put in it. I have seen that they have gone to a 2.4G radio though. it might be better now...

The bigger you can go, usually the more features you can get, not to mention it's easier/ more stable as you go up in size...

i just realized the blade rtf is a really good deal. the raadio that it comes with is $200 and the difference in prices is about $190.

actually, looking at the specs it's closer than I thought to the T-rex 450.
Rotor disc is just over 28 inches and the heli is around 2 feet nose to tail...

in all honesty the B400 is a good choice considering your stated limits. Gary, the B400 is the same size as a 'rex 450. I've seen them side-by-side.

The one caveat to the B400 is the servos. You'll need to replace the three servos on the cyclic ASAP as they have been known to strip gears in flight.

The upside to the B400 is just about every LHS stocks parts for them.

Honestly I think Align shot themselves in the foot by not offering a 450 in an RTF version.

I'd vote for the blade 400 too, from everything I've read people talk and what you said you are looking for.
HOWEVER - not that I'm a fan of HeliMax (having owned a couple) but they just came out with the new Axe 400 as competition to the blade and I've read some good reviews on it as well, if you want to look at another model.
