Smile Brushless Conversion

I converted mine to 2.4 and brushless. Never liked that wierd throttle on the TX, or having to extend the antenna and keep from bending it. I'm flying it now with my Vapor tx.

Blackdogrc.com C20 motor, Castle 9a esc, ar6100 rx, Blackdogrc 8g servo's, stock battery. End pin connector rx would work better than the side pin one I used.

For a motor mount I cut a 1 3/4" circle out of 1/2" plywood with a hole saw. Screwed that to the firewall with the stock gear box screws then mounted the C20 motor to the plywood. You need to make the hole for the prop shaft in the cowl bigger.

Mine was very tail heavy stock, and also after the conversion. CG of 1.25" behind the le works best for me.

I just fly up near Oracle where land has been cleared to build new homes, which are not being built.
Ten minutes from home.

Gohmer, what kind of range are you getting out of the vapor tx in that situation?

Smile Range

I haven't tested it for maximum range. 75 yards is about as far away as I let it get. No problems at that distance.

I hot glued mine in. Forward one is the elevator. I mounted my esc on the firewall extension below the motor.
