Hi EDF, I only use the cheap zippy packs, they are great for AP use & really cheap, they can keep the rip off expensive packs you see for $200+ such a big con & I can't believe how many fall for it

Thanks Kirsty. I use Fusion-packs too. They are a lot less than the big name packs and hold up well and don't get warm. Find when I'm flying 3D you kind of need 20-25c packs if you expect them to last long. I need another set of packs for my 2 x 6s birds so I'm going to order some from HC. Keep 'em flyin'!

Did you miss the 50 size SebArt Sukhoi? I think this one fits the ticket. I might get it.

Did you find the quality of the Sebart ARF to be good? I refuse to buy stuff for this price that I have to replace all the hardware and make a ton of modifications. You can kit build after you do all of that. That is if you can find a kits anymore.
I think you'll find that's a 5s3700 bird.

Nope! You can fly it on 5 or 6 cells. Here's the official site. http://www.sebart.it/50E-class.html#sukhoi50anchor The Flightpower packs they suggest are about 11 oz each which is the exact weight of the 4270 mAh I have for a total of 22 oz's. If your pack is a little heavier than that it won't make much difference. I can't find anything bad about the Sukhoi on the web. Only thing negative was that the hatch pops off in flight but that can be repaired with a latch in the place of the magnets.

The motor and speed control are about $250 shipped if you get them from Hacker. Make sure you check out the specials. http://www.aero-model.com/monthlySpecials.aspx You can get a free USB programmer for the ESC. If you have the flight pack already, you could be in the plane for about $550.

Just got my Scorpion 4025-12 in. Will spin a 17 x 10 on 6s @ 1900 watts. Target weight for my first project plane is about 7lbs. Doing a full fuse Bipe-X so that's why it's a little chunky compared to the mono project. Still has a lot more wing area so it should float just fine at that weight. Too bad there are no such things as 6s kits out there. Would rather have laser cut parts but for now I'm hand cutting everything. Anyhoo...

Got it on RCGroups-good deal. They can also be purchased @ GoBrushless.com or Innov8tivedesigns.com here in the States. Have used their smaller 4s motor and it was rock solid. Their ESCs are excellent and a lot less than some of the name brands. They make excellent heli motors too. I'm also anxiously awaiting their 5455 series for my 3DHS 87" Extra 300 SHP. I'm using the Hacker A60-18L now but would like to have a little better throttle acceleration. The Spin 99 allows for 1.5 sec minimum spool up which can be a little slow at times. Scorpion is coming out with a 130 amp ESC to match it. Should be perfect around 4kw+ for this plane. Motor is rated for 5kw-schweeet!

Default Sebart Sukhoi

Well, I pulled the trigger and ordered the Sebart Sukhoi 50E. It meets my requirements for a 6s plane. It does have a tinted canopy so it doesn't meet MonsterMaxx's requirements. From what I can tell by reading the threads, it will be a great plane.

Very nice plane according to the threads. Look forward to seeing your flight reports. What's your power system going to be? Just for the record-I love my canopies tinted too

Used the same motor/packs in a Fliton Inspire 60. Very good power. As I remember, used a 17 x 10 for really great pattern/3D power. Easy install with the Hacker mount too.

Default Fliton

I looked at the Inspire. There suppose to get them at advantagehobby.com How do you like it? I don't care for the clear covering on the wings. Otherwise it looks like a nice plane. Wish I had enough cash to do the 90 size.

Very good pattern/3D plane. Just needs to be built lite. Probably 5s packs with an inrunner would be ideal. Even with the heavier 6s/outrunner setup it won 2nd in a pattern contest with 2m planes. The covering wasn't my favorite either on the Jr. version or the 60 sized. Had to use a Jeti 77 Opto as the amps were up there a little. Overall a nice flying plane.

I have the Sebart Sukhoi 50e and it is a great flying aircraft. Using 6s 3200 30c flight power batteries, 50-65-450kv rimfire motor, Castle HV 85 ESC and APC 16x8 prop. Hovering at 1/2 throttle and unlimited vertical at 3/4 throttle. Motor and ESC are just warm to the touch after a 8min. flight. The quality of the Sebart Sukhoi 50e is far above the other ARFs we have and the stock hardware has beem trouble free for over 50 flights.

Keep checking the 3DHS Blog for more details on a 70" 3D plane. I'm sure it will be cool. Probably another good lite airframe for 6s-8s packs. I hope there are more 6s planes in the works, I can split up my 12s flight packs for my big plane. Lot easier on the wallet. I plan on having all 6s and 12s planes from now on. Well, except for a few test foamies that is....

Default Foamie

Thanks for the flight report Fast Guy.

Ed, I too have discovered foamies. A friend of mine kitted this one for me. I was spending a lot of time looking at the Sebart site when I painted it.

Sure looks like Sebart. We had some fun today with Bipe-X. Tangerine Pattern Contest was today and we were finishing off the day foamie style and someone let loose a couple of Labs. They seemed to like electrics=Chip Hyde was hovering it over their heads and one dog took a chunk out of the rudder! Everybody got a laugh out of that Foamies can also be highly amusing.

Default Bipe-x

Ed,

What's a Bipe-X? Is it from plans or a kit?

Bipe-X started off as a challenge by my friend Blake for a good flying 3D/precison bipe. Plus we wanted to have a foamie for the MicroDan 2510-3D motor and couldn't find a decent one. So I came up with Bipe-X. It's worked well enough that I'm making a 6s sized full fuse/wing proto. If it works well enough then I'll make a 80" 12s version. Chip Hyde said it flew great and he's designed several bipes so he knows what he's talking about. I sent a copy to a company for evaluation for possible production so we'll see where that one goes. Hope to have all the versions ready by SEFF time. Here's some vids and the Bipe-X thread:

Default It's almost built!

Well, my 6 cell pack problem is solved. My battery should weigh about 612 grams. This is the nicest ARF I've built.

Alrighty then...time for some air under the wings! Let us know how she flies. Sebart puts out some nice stuff(or rather their Chinese factory does!). I hope 3DHS comes up something along the Angel S30 lines for a little cheaper price, I'm looking forward to a 6s 3D/precision hybrid from them-like everyone else!

You think it builds nice, just waite to you see how it flies. Make sure the canopy fits right or it will blow off. The magnets should really snap it into place and it should be difficult to remove. Good luck.

Saw one flying on 5s. I think 6s might turn it into an IMAC plane. They have the Pitts Python @ 58" WS that looks more like a 6s bird.
