Default Hobby-Lobby Mini Telemaster My Build N Fly

Pretty cool plane and some have had one. There might be afew also that have done a thread on this plane, but this is my build and adventure of the Mini Telemaster.

The Mini Telemaster from Hobby-Lobby struck me as a perfect trainer plane. Mike at Air Capitol Hobbies had one he was selling. I score the plane model and the aileron wing for $80.00 saving me about $20.00. So I got the plane with the stock non aileron wing and the aileron wing for advancement in flying.

My mission with Mini Telemaster is to let others fly it so they learn when asked "Is it hard to do that?", film with it, drop stuff with it and pretty much fly it till it dies. At the sametime share what I did to make this super plane fly so others can try one too. I have spent the last three days planning out my build and building the Tele, going off what I plan to accomplish with it. Here are afew photos of the finished Mini Telemaster.

Thanks to SmokeJohnson I got me some Wattflyer stickers.

I will be back to show the working of it and how. I also designed a removable bomb dropping box that was easy to build and works like a charm. Anyhow follow along as I put this plane thru the daily punches of outdoor flying...

That is real sharp looking mini. You are going to love this plane should be even better with the aileron's. I built the balsa kit one. Learned with this and had a blast with it. Mine met an untimely death in a tree my fault the whole way to much wind. Finishing a twin engine mini telemaster out of foam and balsa this should be a fun one to fly hope to finish it this week.

Thanks Gramps, yea I havent flown her yet but I been watching them Youtube videos looks like a good flyer, this is why I have commissioned it to fly adventures. So far I have built a nifty removable bomb box and of course making mountings for camera.

lipo did you check out the water drop that this guy did on his. Water Bomber...
this is real sharp ,but I think it's either the senior tele or the next size down with the 6 foot wing span. Yup you will love it very stable but she doesn't like a lot of wind. the bomb drop will be cool. I need to get mine done and flying should have my TX back mon. or tues. I miss flying bad. My sons wedding was today so that's one more thing out of the way.

Ha Ha thats trick, I can see kids loving that. Im not sure about mine havent flown but I am running a big ol 2200 3S lipo so my weight is at 30oz, should fly better in little wind, like I said don't know. I will report her maiden soon, I just got my new av camera so been testing the AV-1 soaring plane with it today, this camera is rockin, it will be perfect for the mini telemaster.

No special corner needed, I enjoy toying around with stuff and sharing. If you follow on Twitter you will pretty much see my daily workings as they go down. This week will be a joy with the new plane game tomarrow. This one is for a SU-31 ARF, and if the weather gods will be nice, my 1909 Bleriot XI crossing the English Channel...

Talking No Doubt about it

I finished my Mini Telemaster earlier this year.
I Added Ailerons and used nylon bolts for mounting the wing.
I found a really nice stainless steel landing gear at my local
Hobby shop. Looks a little nicer than the wires.

I run a E-Flite 400 with a 25 amp esc. Juice comes from
Thunderpower 2250 Lipo.

The little Telemaster is Definitely a great little airplane.
I'm going to put a pair of Dubro plastic skis on this plane so I can
fly this winter. Next summer, a pair of GWS floats for flying off Water.

I espically like the fact that I can now fly at smaller fields. Makes it
easy to fly without killing a lot of time loading the car and driving
to larger fields.

Default Just ordered the Telemaster, any input on flight simulators?

I haven't built or flown an R/C plane in about 40 years and I thought the Mini Telemaster would be the right plane for me to get back into the hobby with. I'm thinking that once I get some flight experience I can order the wing kit and advance to aileron flight. What are the thoughts on the flight simulators available now? I have been looking at the Phoenix R/C Pro Simulator Version 3.0 with DX5e for $175.00. I am open to any advice I can get on the subject. Great forum you have here. Thanks for the help. Jim

Default A couple of Thoughts

Jim,

Start with the aileron wing. Seriously. No need to train on
the non-aileron wing first. Just set things up so that you
have a small aileron deflection to start. Add small amounts
of deflection as you start to feel more comfortable.

Regarding the SIM Question: You might want to consider FMS
(Flying Model Simulation). You can download the Software
for FREE. There are lots of models on various Web Sites that
you can also Download for FREE. The ONLY money I spent was
12.00 for a USB cord to connect my Futaba 6EX.

Regards
