I believe they sell a Y connector to connect 2 servos together so you can put 2 servos on one receiver channel for say, operating ailerons.

Is it possible to put each on it's own channel and then use Mix to make them work in unison on a DX6i?

Yes...except you don't need the programmable mixing you just switch on Dual Aile in WingTailMix (see P43-45 in your manual).
