2Q

1. Are you still selling the carbon fiber ribbon?

2. I have never worked with CF so I am wondering how you cut it? DOes it just snap when you bend it at a right angle?

Received the carbon strip and have a question about how to use it to strengthen wings / stabilizers.

1. Is the strength increase achieved by laminating the carbon tape onto foam/balsa?

2. Does it have to be glued (with CA/Epoxy) or can it also be taped onto a foam surface?

TIA,

Clint

Put it down carefully on the wood spar make sure it is the right width. And Ca. it down. I use a rubber glove on whatever hand and smooth it out.

The CA will bond to the rubber gloves, at least it does to mine. What I do is you need some PE plastic, like the thin clear bag at a the vegatable section of the supermartket or what I use, the food vacuum sealing bag. Either case you need to test which surface of the bag to use. On a scratch piece of foam or balsa apply some CA and then cut out a small piece of bag and apply it over the CA, and hold for several seconds, if it doesnt bond with the CA, then thats the right surface to use.

Then as Lee describes, lay down the strip, apply CA, and but this plastic bag with the non-bonding side down, and hold down. You should feel it will become hot, thats because the CA is chemically bonding the carbon to the balsa or foam. Dont do all the length at the same time. I suggest to do at increments of 12", which means each hand pushes down on 6" of length. The following sections of 12" should use a newly cut piece of bag, dont resuse the previous cut piece or it will now bond.
