Was wondering when you'd steer this back OT
What are you planning on taking to warm up with for the maiden? That's what I always do with a new major build. I always take a proven plane to fly at least once before I maiden the new plane. If it's a Twin I try to fly a Twin for the warm up. It seems to get me settled and take away some of the Maiden Flight Jitters for me.
Hope the weather cooperates with ya & good luck.

I do not know, it depends what car I bring down there and if my buddy is going to bring his trailer.
If he brings his trailer, I will bring my DW, Extreme Flight Yak, and maybe my Siren hotliner.
If he does not go, then I will bring my DW, my friends V-Diamond, and whatever I can fit after that. Maybe a Seagull Xray or something.

Sure would like to be there for the maiden but it's just too far to even consider. Just guessing but I'd say it's probably a 14 hour drive at least. I made the drive from Miami to Valdasta, GA. to Baton Rouge before I stopped for 4 hours sleep and then on to Houston, TX. once but that was back in 1980 when I moved back home to Texas. Once I'd made up my mind to move back I just didn't want to stop. Now way I'd even think of trying a drive like that these days unless it was an emergency.

Ok I just saw my buddy break one of the firewalls on his Deuce Wild. I am pretty nervous now. I have added extra epoxy, gorilla glue, and a little fiber cloths. I think I am going to maiden it without the spinners to minimize the chance of anything being out of balance.

AWESOME! I jsut got back from the maidening. There were a lot of people there to watch, except Badbill since it was too early.
The plane flew great. It did require a good deal of trim, both up and right. I was nose heavy on the CG, but that is ok. I can play with that a little later. It is always better to be nose heavy than tail heavy.
I need to take some of the elevator mixing out of the flaps. I had too much down elevator programmed in. I am still having a small problem with the retract not popping all the way down. I fixed it, but always have to cycle them before flying, which is a good idea anyway.
I took a nice long roll out because there was dew all over the grass. There was some dill weed in the background tellign me to pull up. Really? Is that how you make a plane fly? You pull up? Hmmm. Oh well, some peope are cool only in a mothers eye.
I climbed to about 3-4 mistakes high and trimmed her out. It took me a flew laps to get it trimmed out, but no big deals. After trimming her out, I pulled the retracts up and flew around. Nothing special. A roll here, loop there, low pass somewhere.
Landing. WOW was that a fast landing. I felt like a Naval Avaitor trying to make the carrier. No problems aside form being fast and long. On the roll out, I collect about 3 gallons worth of dew and 18 bag fulls of grass shavings.
Note to self - fly after the sun dries up the dew.
Ok I am tired and I have company. Here are some pics to enjoy. Video will be available later tonight.

I spoke with BadBill today, and he let me know he was not too pleased with "my boy bryan"
WHOA! I said, he's not my boy!
Anyhow, it seems, that Bry failed to wait for Bill to come out and see the, from what reports say, VERY SHORT flight of the Deuces.
What gives? Why couldn't you let Bill see it fly?

Glad to hear of a succesful maiden. You have made me homesick for Hodges with those pics! Man I can't wait til spring!
Love that morning dew. I made the mistake of flying my Waco early on the last day of SEFF and did not clean the wheel pants out til we got home. I had to take them off and use a wire brush to get that dried grass out of there!
I still there is some left I couldn't get to...
Anyway... Congrats man! She looks great in the air!

The flight was about 5 minutes. Bill knew in advance that I was going to fly the plane early in the morning today. I had family coming down from Atlanta that was going to be at my house at 12, so I had to leave Hodges at 11am to get back here in time.
I will upload the video tomorrow. I had a new beer, Horny Goat. It ws excellent. Soo good that I am not going to upload a video to Youtube
