Well, finally received yesterday... Really nice and high quality (IMHO). Unusually wide fuselage (nearly 5" at the wing leading edge), but very scale. All the covering looks great. E-Flite's done a great job with this one...

Well, I finally got my Taylorcraft...more than 3 month after I ordered it at my LHS. I spent the day yesterday putting it together and I even had time to build and installed the floats on it. What a beauty

As a power set-up, I was debating between 2 motors I have available: TowerPro 2515-8t (190watts) and Turnigy 35-36C (350watts). After building the floats (24" foam from seaplanesupply), covering them with Ultracote and installing all the hardware from the E-Flite size 25 floats (heavy gauge wire stuts, water rudder and hardware), I opted for the bigger one (way overpower for an overweight plane). The floats hardware is overbuild for this plane (designed more for the Beaver) and makes them quite heavy for the T-craft.
My power set-up is: Turnigy TR35-36C 1100Kv motor, Turnigy 40A ESC, Ubec, 4X Towerpro 9g servos and a GWS 11X7 prop. I plan on using my 4S 2600mAh A123 batteries on it, making the plane quite heavy. I hope I did not push the weigh too high for this plane
I will probably run the Towerpro motor and 3S 2100mAh lipos with Dubro skis this winter making the plane much liter lite is was disigned to be...
Unfortunately, I did not get to maiden the plane yesterday as my Spectrum AR7000 refused to get in binding mode
. I tried everything for almost 1 hour before calling it quit and deciding it must be a defective unit. I am sure Horizon will exchange it: I bought it at the LHS back in June when I ordered the plane. It is not my fault if the back order plane kept being pushed further and further.
I will maiden the plane next week-end, fist on wheels, then with the heavy float set-up....

Nice Beaven! I finally got mine at the LHS I work at after being on backorder for 5 mos! The price of the T-Craft has gone up from 109.99 to 169.99! Ouch! Luckily I got my employee discount otherwise I would not have gotten it. Unfortunalty after 5 mos all the electronics I had set aside is now being used in other aircraft so until I wreck one this will stay in the que on my shelf for now. Gene

I found it quite expensive when I paid for it last week. It did not occure to me that the price might have gone so much up since last June. I will have to talk to my LHS about it and try to get a credit. It is not fair that I ordered the plane back in the beginning of June with a delivery date of end of June with a price of $129 (if my memory is right) and then have to wait until September and pay as much as $169

109.00 to 169.00
The price went up incrementally, as well as ridiculously from 109 to 124 to 139 to 169. I sent Horizon an email letting them know that this was too little plane for too much money (not that they will run to my door with a 109.00 Taylorcraft). I understand cost increases but sheesh.
Fortunately for me, I found one on Ebay a couple of weeks ago for 139 and this was the very most that I had planned to pay for this plane. If only my wife had hooked me up back last Christmas, we would have only paid 109. At the time, she didn't trust me not to put it into the ground............
I'm in the process of the build now and I love the way this plane looks and hope it flies as well.

I think the higher ups at e-flite are smoking crack cuz the price increase for all their planes are ridiculous. Most if not all of them went up 30-50%.
Ex: taylorcraft - from 109 to 159
Funtana - from 109 to169
Pulse - from 109 to 159.
All this price increase without any improvements or upgrades on the plane.
Sometimes they delay, or put planes on backorder, so that all the planes in the shelves of the LHS are sold out first, before they increase the price and release new kits.
Luckily, I got the last of the Funtana on sale for $109 before it jumped to $169.
I was really looking to get the Taylorcraft but due to price, I'll be forced to get something else.

Pulse - from 109 to 159.

beaven = nice looking plane for sure - just got mine and having a blast flying it
already looking towards winter - have ski's ready to go
BUT - also looking forward to float flying next year (maybe this year if can get set-up) - so my question - what floats do you have? - did u go with the seplane supply yo mentioned? l havent been able to locate a proper-sized set of floats - no problem with too short - or too long (and heavy) - ideally they should be @28" for the Taylorcraft l find

I just received my set of floats, they are awesome!!!
Beautiful craftsmanship at a great price.
They are 27" long, just right for the Taylorcraft's 36" length.
Floats need to be 75 to 80 percent of the length.
I ordered two sets of the E-flite landing gear, which will make for easy transitioning from grass to water.

Thanks Snoopy for the video. I just got a pair of Dubro Parkflyer skis for my Taylorcraft. I was not sure if they were big enough for the plane. I asked around what would be the best skis for this plane and did not get any answers. Looks like the Dubro parkflyer skis do a great job on crusty snow.
My T-Craft is still a little ill from my last Spectrum cut-off. My AR7000 is now in Horizon Hobby techs hand. I have had no less than 5 receiver resets in about 12 flights with this plane (the last one lasted at least 20 seconds and ended in a 100' fall to the ground). I am waiting for a new cowl and need to fix the motor mount. All the rest is now repaired...
It should be back in the air in a day or two with a receiver scavanged in my Supercub and the beat-up old cowl.... with new skis...

Those Dubro skis are the best for this plane size. I use them too on my Mini Pulse XT and I'd like to try them on my Gee Bee Y Green model Maxford USA.It will be a bit more complicate to fix them on the Gee Bee.

Local hobby store reports they just received 2 in today after a backorder since November. And to my surprise , an increase of $50 or so to $169.99.
I have a LOVE / HATE relationship with Eflite.
Great quality ARFs , motors and ESCs.
But "misers" when it comes to price and playing games!
