Quick Question, will either turnigy motors run on ni-mh also? I have 3 - 8.4v 1100mah ni-mh for my Flyzone J-3 cub that I want to upgrade to brushless and lipo but want to use the ni-mh too. I need a cheap ESC to go with. The plane is 21 oz and comes with 380 brushed motor and an
8 A esc( I think) People make lots of suggestions, but always high-end stuff. Noobs like me don't want to go broke right off the bat, so on the cheap please!
Thanks,
HEMICUDA

the 2410-09 is a great motor, equall to the 2830 turnigy motor, but will turn a little bigger prop, a 11x4.7 SF prop
or if you want just a ESC, here is a nice 25 amp esc

for $17.08
and a 30 amp towerpro for $13.95

its best to use a programing card with the turnigy esc, it just makes life easier
for ease of use, I would go with the turnigy ESC and programing card, it will make life a lot nicer, when you have to program between Ni-mh batteries and lipos

Hemi, I agree with chellie about the hobby king/city stuff. The 2409-10 is a good motor, but I would advise against the motor.prop.esc combo that comes with the Mag8 ESC. I got two of those combos and the ESCs are junk. I ended up buying Turnigy Basic esc's and they are great. I got a couple 18A and a couple 25A. I also recommend the turnigy programming card. You can make your ESC play Jingle Bells when you turn it on. Cool!
While you're shopping there, get some gold bullet connectors (for motor to esc connection, I got 3.5mm ones) and some Deans-style T conntectors (for battery to esc connection). They make life a lot easier, and you're going to need them eventually, so you may as well get them in the same order. You might also want to pick up a Zippy Lipo (or two or three) while you're at it. They are cheap and decent batteries from what I've heard. Then you don't need to program your ESC for NiMH!

Chellie and aero-k,
Thanks for the valuable info. So many choices ... I forgot to mention
the FZ Cub comes with a 7 x 3 prop and I've seen people who use 8 X4
and 8 x 3.8props too. I did change out my wheels and put on maxx prod
2 3/4in sport lite mags... probably gained some ground clearance.
Any further suggestions would be greatly appreciated

I'm looking at placing an order for a couple of these motors along with some other small parts. Anyone know how to get the USPS Priority Mail shipping instead of the EMS Express price or is there no USA warehouse and we just have to live with the expensive shipping?

Wow. Your pushing this little motor very hard. I have never liked using SF props b/c they draw more amps/battery life than regular props. My experience.
My motor is still going strong with a regular 9060 APC prop.
Turnigy C2830 1050kv
Just wanted to chime in.

I pay more for non-expedited freight from the other side of Australia than I do for Hobbycity express from Hong Kong.
If it is too much for you, try the airmail service - it still should not take more than about a week to arrive.

from my experiance, don't use airmail, the only package I had dissapear was from airmail, they shipped it, it left hong kong, and never arrived in usa... and it took 6 months to have the order refunded, (there's a process... and its really slow)
ps, I've made aprox 56 orders, and at least 40 were after that package got lost, all the rest were ems express... aka USPS priority... and arrived within 5-7 days...

I'd say $18.75 shipping for a $30 order is high. Guess I'm spoiled by Heads Up's $2 flat rate. But Jeff doesn't stock these motors. I managed to pare down my order to under 250g to qualify for their "cheap" Airmail shipping, but got it registered so that took it from about $6 to about $10. If I were ordering a couple of hundred bucks worth I wouldn't mind so much. But then again, if I were ordering that much in odds and ends I'd be getting them from Jeff. He's never screwed up an order, answeres his emails, and ships quickly. Just doesn't sell Turnigy. Anyway, didn't mean to get off topic. I just want to try these motors out as they look to be a step up from the TP's.

The turnigy motors are great, but after trying all of them, the red turnigy's and the black ones, are worth the extra couple of dollar...

I want to put this motor on a Shuriken jet foamie, but the prop cage limits me to a 6" prop. Anyone put a EP or APC 6x4 on this motor? What result at 11.1V? I was using it on a Magpie with an EP8x4--ran great.
Chellie; Just saw your post on trimming an 8x6 to 6x6. Great idea!

some info that might be helpful....
I'm using this on a stryker with a 7x7 groupner prop on a 4cell 1000mah pack, 220watts 14.8amps... comes down cold... hits around 70mph... and is an extreemly light setup...
http://www.hobbycity.com/hobbycity/s..._23A_Outrunner
I tested this one on a 4cell, on like a 4.75x4.75 for 30 seconds static... was cold... but couldn't find my wattmeter, so I don't know what it will take... my guess... would be to prop around 160 watts, or... 11amps... that should be safe... or at least, thats my thinking...
http://www.hobbycity.com/hobbycity/s..._15A_Outrunner
Yep, they're not rated for it... but since they're so cheap, I though... What the heck... lets see what it'll do...LOL

Chellie;
Maybe you can help me here. My C2830 (Turnigy) doesn't spin freely when I twirl the prop. Seems to fly OK under power. My other motors spin a little when I flip the prop. What up?

It is perfectly fine - just the nature of the motor's design.
