In the manual for the Great Planes Synapse EDF, they recommend using either the 910mAh or the 1250mAh battery. I have a couple of the ElectriFly Power Series batteries but they are 1500mAh. Does anyone know if those batteries will work? Surely they aren't that much heavier. They are of the same shape too. I know it will be a bit larger but I just don't know if that will matter much.

Zack, I have flown mine with a 910 pack. Flies great,but flight times are some what short maybe six minutes or so. I would think if you could get it to balance with your 1500, that should tell you if it would fly? If it would balance I would go for it. Hope this helps. Jim

I used Zippy 1000mah 3S (20C) in my Synapse. They're lightweight and there was a notable increase in power.

I'm thinking of using:

1800mAh Capacity
3S - 11.1 Volts - 20C Continuous Discharge
Continuous Discharge Rate of 36 amps
102mm X 35mm X 23mm (4.02in X 1.38in X 0.91in)
161 grams (5.7oz)

Any help would be apreciated.

Your batteries are too heavy. You will have trouble launching this plane with that much weight.

Yes, I tough they were to heavy, I appreciate your comment and wont even try to use them, I don't want to crash on my first attempt. I will just let the plane sit on the hangar until I have the proper batteries, I will get some 1000mah 20C 11volts when I can save up some money....

Hi guys I'm french and I'm a synapse lover!

I fly with much too heavy batteries, 1500 and more, my CG is much to the front.

Anyway, the real answer to your question is: HOW IS THE WIND?

If the wind is weak, forget it, because without a catapult it's very difficult to launch the synapse alone without serious risk of stall. The stronger the wind the easier it starts, and then I don't care for overweight, for the synapse will still be a rocket in the sky! I have many planes and helicopters, but I wouldn't trade all of them for my synapse. I burst it apart many times, the tail was broken twice by my daughter, once by my dog, with a bit of glue nothing stops me from flying it again the next hour of so.
The worse thing that happens to me is I lose sight of it. Then all I have to do is shut the motor off and take a plastic bag to go for the pieces... AND THEN I FLY AGAIN!
When I really manage to break it beyond repair -or may be lose it away- I will buy another for I'm totally addicted to it.
If you fly it, please do something for me: full speed up away, a large turn and then scream it down toward you, when it comes near SWITCH THE ENGINE OFF and listen to this amazing sound of the whistleling wind as it flash passes in front of you. There is nothing like it. I'm 48. This plane makes me feel 30 years younger!
