Default is it OK to connect the FMA Cellpro PowerLab 8 v2 input straight to the alternator?

And another thing that bothers me: will it be OK to connect the FMA Cellpro PowerLab 8 v2 input straight to the (quite unstable) output of a car's alternator, or would you recommend putting something more in between, and what if so?

The idea is that I want to replace the lead-acid with a LiFePo4 battery in my car and use the PowerLab between the alternator and the LiFePo4 battery for charging control.

The alternator is a Bosch 55A 12V.

I want to kick-out all lead-acid from my car.

Any tips to make it work and not kill any electronics, batteries or cars in the process?

Default LiFePo4 battery Charging

The idea is that I want to replace the lead-acid with a LiFePo4 battery in my car and use the PowerLab between the alternator and the LiFePo4 battery for charging control

FAQ: Using LiFePO4 batteries as starting batteries for the fuel cars (2)
Q: How will the LiFePO4 battery be affected by the charging system of the car?
A: The 12V LiFePO4 battery is not affected by the charging system at all. Majority of the cars’ charging systems charge up to 14V or 14.4V. This represents the charging level of 70% to 75% for the LFP batteries.

Any tips to make it work and not kill any electronics, batteries or cars in the process?

Never disconnect a battery from a car when its running, the Alternator Diodes will burn out, it needs the battery for a Voltage Balance/buffer, it can be done with a Generator, but not a Alternator, Hope that helps, Chellie

Hook the Power Lab to the Battery, the battery is a voltage buffer and will not hurt your Charger, the Alt is not the best place to hook up electronics at, and dont hook it up inline, or you will most likely burn it up, the PowerlLab 8 is not needed to charge your Cars LiFePo4 battery with, hook it up to the battery to charge your planes batteries with Hope that helps, Chellie

The LiFePo4 battery Dont have a lot of cranking amps, so you might need to hook up 2 of them in Parallel. Just my 2 cents worth.
