Default Which adapter.

Hi, I have a couple of Cellpro 10S chargers that I am setting up and I was wondering which adapter I need to get for charging my(new future) batteries that have the Balance Plug: JST-XH, would it be the CP10S-TP/PQ6S or the CP10S-GP/KO6S? I've been to the website and it only tells the type of batteries instead of which balance tabs work. I will be needing four of them so I want to make sure I get the right ones.

Thanks Ed.

A belated welcome to Watt flyer Ottertok. A couple of really good chargers there but I cant be much help without knowing what batteries you are trying to charge. I believe FMA offers two and since shipping will be the same regardless of which one or how many....Order both. You WILL likely/eventually need them anyway. Those two should charge just about 99% of the batteries we normally see and use on a regular basis.

So then this (CP10S-GP/KO6S adapter) would be the one I would use for my 10S charger to charge the 5S and 6S batteries shown in the previous provided HobbyCity link?

Yes that is the correct one. I double checked the link I sent and it had picked up the 4S charger adaptor. Not sure how that happened but apologies for confusion.
The 10s GP KO adapter is what you will need for the Light Max batteries.

The node connector for these batteries is JST-XH. FMA calls
it 'GP'. I have them on all my lipos:

- Common Sense RC v2
- HobbyCity FlightMax... for that matter just about every battery HC sells... Turnigy, Rhino, etc.
- OKHobby Excell

But it's always a good idea to buy extra node adapters so you don't end up buying batteries and no way to balance them.

Thanks for the info, I just finished ordering four of each from FMA. Cindy just e-mailed me to confirm the order, should have them in about a week.

Generally, you should never charge the stock CX2 lipos above a 1C charge rate. In this case 0.8A. At 1C, it takes 1 hour for a battery to charge. If you attempt to charge above 1C... be prepared for a possible lipo bursting and fire!

If you need to cycle batteries faster, there are 2 ways:

1) Buy more batteries so you have fully charged ones ready to go.

2) Buy Hyperion G3 lipos. They will safely charge at up to a 5C rate (4 amps for the 800mAh pack used in the CX2) with an appropriate charger. Charge times will be less than 15 minutes.

i not to worried about the charger telling me fuel levels etc
Any decent charger will also have a balancer that will display and equalize the cell voltages. A 'fuel level' as you say.

2 hours is only 0.5C charge rate. You could safely bump that up.

FMA makes good chargers. I highly recommend them. Either of these models combined with the GP/KO balance connector would be an excellent choice to charge your Lipos:

Cellpro Multi4 with GP/KO adapter:

Thanks for that, looks like the multi 4 would charge 2 at a time, if so do the batteries need to be of the same level of charge/discharge ?
Saw this on ebay... http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.d...=STRK:MEWAX:IT any good ?

It's the 10S that charges 2 packs simultaneously, not the Multi4. When doing this, the pack charge levels should be relatively close.

Many of those chargers are cheap chinese makes. Chargers like radios are a long term investment. Buy the best charger you can afford and you will likely never need another.

ok forget chinese...lol . Thought the multi4 did 2 at same time cause the adapter has 2 sockets the same as the lipo.. ill take a look at the 10s, thanks.. Edit...
the 10s is to expensive for me, so ill take a look at the 4s which is out of stock, would i need a adapter or do the lipos plug straight in ?

The Multi4 is only a few bucks more, it's in stock, and adds NIMH, NiCad, LiFE, and Lead Acid charging types. The link I gave below includes Multi4 and the GP/KO balance adapter that fits most lipos from HobbyKing, E-Flite, Parkzone, etc.
