Default new to electrics help

Ok gang help me out with some knowledge. I am pretty new to the new generation moters and EDF units. I have two Turnigy aerodrive D2836/9 950Kv with speed controlers from a GWS P-38 That died a noble death. In my stash I have a GWS A-4 that calls for a 75 edf unit. Would these motors work in the A-4? over/under powered. If so what kind of edf would work best. Also even if it fits the A-4 i will still have one motor left (or 2 if it wouldn't work well in the A-4) So what kind of scale warbird single or twin that would work well. I am a builder and love to build as much as fly, I call it my "balsa wood" therapy, it helps putdown the events in life like work commute etc. Vote away and help me build a little knowledge. Thanks

Welcome PhantomBuilder,
EDFs use high KV motors, your 950KV motors were designed for propellers. I had the GWS P-38, mine also died a rather noble death, at least that's the way I want to remember it.
I would recommend an EDF unit with a motor for the best performance. The 11-12 blade EDFs sound great, much like a true jet, the 5-blade fans are loud.
Find a fan unit designed to work on the battery voltage you are going to put in the plane. Many are made for 4 cells and many are made for 6 cells. really big ones may use 12 cells.
I don't remember the watts per pound for EDFs right now but I think it is around 200. I have a small F-16 just over 1 lb it has a EDF of about 500 watts, it is insane, you just let it go and it is gone. Estimated by others to be flying 125 or more.

Since you have the motors and ESCs for those motors, and you like to build, why not find a similar sized twin prop plane to build?
