So I ran across some pics of me and my fathers planes when we were younger...I was around 8-10 years old when these were taken....I was just learning to fly...

Your dad had a great collection of planes. It's fantastic you share his passion for the hobby.
Thanks! There's a cool newspaper article (Like a 2 or 3 page spread!) about us and the local club back in around '76 or so. I'll take a picture of it if I can remember what box it's in. Lots of cool pics of us at our field and of some of the members.
Smack in the middle of the mass photo of dads planes I posted, is a P-51 that the fuse was covered in pieces of aluminum from old beer cans turned inside out. Someone used a small gear to make rivet marks on the edges. It was cool! Dad never flew it, it hung in the garage (We called it the hanger) as a display piece. I may have pics of it around here somewhere. If I do I'll post them.
Dad had me flying around age 8? IIRC but I was more interested in motocross and stuff at the time. I dabbled in the hobby off and on most of my life but never had dad's passion until recently. Of course I'm 53 now so I am around the age he was when he got serious in it as well. Equipment sure is better now! Seems like the selection of scale planes was better back then though...Top Flight made some great kits!
Some lovely planes in that first post Pilot Error. Do I see a Quickfly II in the first pic? Looks like the correct era with Kraft radio etc.
The glider with the engine pod brings back memeories. I had one similar with a Davies Charlton Merlin .08 diesel motor on it but it was a free flight.
