Smile Build the beautiful Super Bandit

About my Super Bandit Foam Board Plane
Today I build a super bandit foam board plane using a 5mm board. I got the plans on line and used a laser machine to cut this. There is some problem with me. The laser machine does not cut properly. The foam inside melts too fast. I used black color foam board which I got one a local store in India. They have 4 / 5 feet board. Initially I took white color and tried. But did not work. Then I tried using black color and it worked. Still there is some melting of foam inside the board. Anyhow its not so bad.
I purchased my motor and ESC from store in Dubai. Any one can order online and they send throughout the world.
Once this is done I took a spray paint and sprayed on it. Gone………
I damaged this plane. The paper skin of the plane came out. Now I am like what paint I have to use. If anyone has done painting on this paper foam board please let me know.

Here are some of the photos.

I need some help with my queries

First is how to paint these paper based foam board.
Second how to cut white colored foam board.
Minimize foam getting burnt.

Not sure if i can be of much help, but i remove paper on the foam board first and i use paint that i buy at Walmart Store.
Best to experiment on Scrap Piece of Foam Board for paint results.
Good Luck

Cutting on a Laser Cutter with foam ? I do this but it has to be done at FAST speed and LOW power. Its actually better to have to make 3 .. 4 passes to completely cut through. That way you know you are not over-powering the laser ...

Painting ... Well that's a problem if you leave the paper on ... nearly all paints water and oil based will lift the paper. So paper off and then use water based acrylics. Graphic shops sell suitable .... or use Poster paints.

Most spray cans will have solvent in and that will eat the foam.

Default Foam Board Cutting

Thank you Solentlife and Crashalot for the valuable inputs. Removing paper I feel its not a good idea. This is because paper layer is keeping the board hard and tough. Let me try with Acrylic paint and check.

Regarding the fast speed with low power laser sounds interesting idea. I must try this. Thats a lot.
I will let you know the results soon.

Default Paint job was failure

Not much to say. You can see the photo. I used paint brush and also used paint roller. Paint job was failure.
May be I need to use spray paint ?? Secondly my plain is becomes heavy after paint. This acrylic paint is really heavy.

Default Here is the photo

Photo is attached.
The paint I purchased from Hobby Shop in Dubai and the plane from RC Shop India. Have a look at the photo. Ugly work.

I will also send one close up photo of the paint.
