Default The Other Official DonsRC Motor thread.

This thread is for the discussion of the other DonsRC motors not used in EDF applications. It is an offshoot of the current thread for the Wicked EDF motor which is located here:

http://www.wattflyer.com/forums/showthread.php?t=30469

Many people use the other motors like the Wicked 2700, Wicked Jr, and Wicked Jr Park Pusher motors in models like the Lynx, flying wings, and other park jets. So this is the place to ask questions and discuss!!!

Some of my applications:

Hobby Lobby Lynx
Wicked 2700, APC 4.7 x4.2, 3S 2100 lipo, 100 mph

same model on 4S with 4.1 x 4.1 prop, 120 mph

RC Powers F-22 kit
Wicked Jr Park Pusher, APC 6 x4 prop, 3S 1320 lipo,

"Shuttle" model for the RCG Fastest Foamy contest

I'm glad you started a new thread.
I hope it gets some interest since it was my suggestion ):

For those that don't frequent the other board, I believe Don and his Shuttle Foamy pretty much shut down the Fastest Foam Challenge thread by setting the bar so high.

This is not spam at all, in fact the moderator over in the EDF forum suggested I start a thread here. If you do not believe me here is his post:
http://www.wattflyer.com/forums/show...9&postcount=64

I have been selling these for about a year on RCG and on my website. They are great little motors. Right now a guy has gone 139 mph with my "cheap chinese motors". If you are not interested then no need to participate. But there are people here on Wattflyer who own them and this is where they can discuss and ask questions.

Don is a spammer!! That is a good one! Ha ha ha!

Hey Don, I was thinking of one of the wicked outrunners in a GWS corsair on 2s running a 7 or 8 inch prop. what do you think of that? Has anything like that been done before?

Never tried that actually, for a GWS warbird this is the best motor I have for all round flying.

It is what I am putting in my sons GWS Mustang.

What kind of speed do you get out of that?
I had a Zero with a himax 2025 4200 that I ran on the fastest gear.. I can't remember what ratio right now, but that setup on 3s got about 50 -60 mph. I was hoping for something a little faster than that.. Flying my lynx has me wanting to make my foam fast...
I may still get another wicked outrunner and try it anyway. If it doesn't work out, I can always put it on my new Lynx I just ordered.

That setup would be about the same speed. A better setup would be the KA22-20L with an 8 x 8 APC prop. That is speedier setup.

Do you know of anyone with Multiplex FunJet with one of your set-ups? What's your recommendation?

A 4.7x4.2 APCe would probably be the ticket.
A 40amp ESC and a 1800-2200mAH 20C Li-Po and it should do nicely.

Let's see how close I am (:

You can go two ways on the Funjet. For 3S you can use the Wicked 3000 with a 4.7 x 4.2 prop. That is a good setup. When you go to 4S on that motor you can only use a 4.1 x 4.1 prop which works great on my Lynx (goes 120mph) but not the best on the Funjet. I have a new version the Wicked 2700 which you can run a 6 x 4 prop and get about 80 mph pitch speed but LOTS of thrust on 3S. Or you can run a 5 x 5 prop for less thrust and more speed. The new 2700 really shines on 4S as you can run a 4.5 x 4.1 prop. I have that on a 36" span Ritewing Lightning and it goes 120mph on a 4S 2250. So it depends what you want the Funjet to do.

Dr Kiwi,

Just so you know, that motor you tested I now call the Wicked 3000. I now have a new Wicked 2700 which is a little lower KV (about 2700 imagine that ) so just wanted to let you know the name change.

The Wicked 2700 sounds like it would work well for me as I like to have options, 6x4 for thrust, or maybe a 5.25x4.25 for more speed. If it works great on a 4s too that's all the better. Thanks for the help guys.

Hey Don,

Did you ever get a replacement for that Park Pusher F2632 (2200) I sent back to you?

No I have not really pursued that as a new motor sine then. Seems to be a bunch of motors in that range already.

Hey Don,
Do you still recommend the Wicked Jr Park Pusher for the Yardbird pusher jets?
Thanks

It worked perfect on my Yardbird F-22, lots of power. Here is a video from my head camera:

Default Stick Mount

Thanks Don. I had one I broke today in my first failed launch (didn't fly far enough to call a crash). It is pretty light weight for a hard, errrrr, landing.

I found one later at Micro-Dan. It is made of metal.

Am also considering making a firewall mount bracket from aluminum. I learned how to bend hard aluminum recently from an RC resource on line. Just google "how to bend aluminum". The 16mm by 19mm motor mounts fit this motor and with the aluminuum, I can grind and cut it for good airflow.

Not sure yet which I will do. Won't have a chance to try and fly my Wild Wing again for a week because of house guests.
