I'm beginning a build of a classic Pattern plane, the Mach 1, by Norm Page. Back in the day this was a fast, sleek pattern model that did very well in pattern meets across the country.
I have a midwest Kit that I hope to start building soon, but instead of a glow .60 motor, I'd like to Electrifly it!
I'm looking for power setup suggestions. Here is what I'm thinking at the moment, but I would really like some input from the group as to the best choice for power for this plane.
Batteries: 2 3s 4500 ms 30c in series
ESC: 120a ESC
Motor: Turnigy G110-295
Prop: 16-10 3 blade
The model should weigh in around 6 lbs without power.

I have an original Mach 1 kit and intend to use an electric motor of at least 1000 watts.
The 60 size engines used 11x8 or 12x6 props mostly. I don't think you will be able to clear a 16" prop without making the landing gear real long which will make them pretty wobbly.
I am going to use a motor with a much higher KV so that it can use an 11" prop. I intend to put retracts in my plane so I don't want long gear.
I know that the lower KV motor like yours is a higher efficiency but you have to consider many things.
I have loved the Mach 1 since it came out, I bought a Supertiger ABC bluehead pumper engine for it. I was a huge ST fan, they were so reliable, they are still my favorite nitro engines. The engine is still new in the box.
