Angry I can't wait to hear the excuse for this!

You know we blame UPS/USPS/FedEx, etc. for damage but this one takes the cake, and I can't blame them.

Received my TwinStar II today. Well kinda. UPS drops it off, shipping box is pristine, whats inside is not.

Take a look at the photos and tell me how the hello Tower would send something like this!

The box is crushed, torn, cut, taped back together. And it appears this was a previous return or a parts donor. Most of the bubble wrap is gone, all the hardware is AWOL, the box that was to have the power system is missing the motors and mounts.

Oh the fuse is broken in two places, both wings have damage, and that's as far as I looked.

I fired off an email to Tower, and am waiting for their reply.

Maybe it's just me, but I would never have sent something like this to a customer.

Shocking that they would send something like that out... What are they thinking? It's obviously going to come back to them, no customer is about to accept a box of scraps.

Yeah tell me about it. From Hobby King I might expect this, but from Tower?

There is no way they can't say they didn't know it was in this condition when shipped.

Looks like someone wants to get fired from Tower! Wonder if the packers name is connected to that.

Why e-mail them? A phone call is free irrespective of whatever phone line you have.

Well in 60 orders from HK I've never seen anything even remotely that bad.

Putting right the mistake promptly is fine, but getting the order right first time is even better.
Of course to err is human we all make mistakes, but to ship a box in that condition is inexcusable IMHO..

Well it just got even better today. I couldn't make this up if I tried.
The mail man just showed up with this.

Supposed to be my 4 props for the TwinStar. And yep it's empty...

Package looks like it got wet, but strangely there is no adhesive on the flap or package???

Looks like I need to make a sacrifice to the flying gods. Anyone have a goat or sheep they want to donate?

Oh Frack, I just thought of something. Bad things come in three's.

The motors showed up yesterday, no damage, no missing parts.
Wanna bet neither of them works out of the box or they fail right away?

Yikes Glacier,

Has not been my experience with Tower. Someone in management needs to hear this. They'll appreciate your call. These threads can be damaging as they should know. Send them the pics and don't hesitate to get on the phone.

A good company can be judged on what they do to recover from an episode like this and what type of good will they'll provide to keep you as a customer.

Sorry to see, yet more like UPS then Tower and I am confident Tower will make reasonable compensation. Although if Tower wishes to file a claim with USP, good luck, you will need to fully cooperate.

Me, my last shipment using USP was over four years past. And I do mean my Last!

I have placed over 50 orders from Hobbyking, every kit I have received, has been in perfect condition. Some have had a lot of what I thought was unnecessary padding, the plane was EPP.

Some kit boxes looked like they could have kicked them out of the cargo plane with no damage when it hit ground.

I haven't bought from Tower in several years, but this is shocking unless it was a scratch & dent sale. I would be on the phone HOT

I hope they take care of you quickly. Let them know you might put it on the internet, that should shake them up.

If you let them know you already put it on the internet, they might not want to help much.

Does Tower still send the return label like they used to?

You know this I am sure - but if all items are part if same order - you should not use any.
Many companys do not like dealing with part of an order.

Good luck - I would be on phone or customer online - no waiting!

As to Hobby King - I too have never had problem with HK packing - in fact its been too much on most things.

Was the initial shipment by UPS or USPS? The empty prop shipment label showed USPS but the conversation seems to indicate UPS. The reason I ask is that the damage could be the shipper's rather than Tower's. The pristine shipping box could be an in route re-package.

That would be my guess. I just can't see anyone in their right mind packing a trashed box like that and not expect the recipient to notice! I'll bet the shipper destroyed the original box (and contents) and put what was left in a new box.

That's a plausible explanation. It does seem very hard to believe that anyone at tower could have been negligent enough to pack it in that state.

I thought that the courier usually put a note on the package if it had been damaged and/or re-packed, just like the sticker on the padded envelope that came after? Does the outer box have anything tieing it to Tower, like their own address label or similar?

Also were the packing labels on the pristine outer box the original Tower ones? Any evidence of replacement?

Whoever is at fault, this is a PR nightmare. I would hand write a letter to tower with a link to this thread if they desire photographs. Regardless of if the shipping contractor or a tower employee (i am sure they have a record of which bench it was packed at) is at fault, Tower needs to pursue this. The shipping labels should tell quite a bit. Sorry you are getting such bad luck, best to get it out of your system anywhere BUT at the field.

maybe a newbie employe sent a scratch and dent item instead.

my guess is the shipping company reboxed it like described by others. tower wouldn't ship crap product hoping to dump it on someone. they have a good rep as far as my dealing with them has been.

have you gotten thru on the phone yet . one thing always impress's me is when a company answers the phone right away during normal business hours.

To clarify, the plane was from Tower, was not reboxed by UPS. I even commented to the driver, when she dropped it off, that it was a nice box. Was not relabled.

Props were from GWS, shipped USPS. And that's how it arrived, outer USPS bag was not sealed, nor the one inside from GWS.

Anywho, heard from Pat at Tower on Friday, lots of appologies, and that cosmetic damaged items are not shipped as new, they go to the scratch and dent sales. REALLY?
I've sent the photos to them so they could see what I received, and am waiting to hear back.

I still think a manufacturer's box in that condition, missing and broken parts, wouldn't even qualify for scratch and dent. Which is NOT what I ordered.

I'll keep you updated.

every so often i search different sites online for what scratch and dent items are.[also discontinued items] they can be minor or missing a ton of parts, sometimes major broken items like the fuse. bottom line,i wouldn't buy junk to have to repair even before i crash it...lol plus the savings never impress me that anyone would buy scratch and dent items.

Unless you need it for parts.
