Default Extra 47" SHP - 3dhobbyshop

I was surprised not to see a forum here for this one being the huge following on other forums (oops, did I just mention I belong to other forums..)

Anyways, this plane has quickly become my favorite plane out there and is as aerobatic as it is forgiving!

Ben's service (You'll hear this from everyone) is also exceptional!!
Any others own this awesome plane here?

I've gotta video of me flying mine here:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NdRG2H6Yuwo

and an rcgroups review here:

Default 3D Hobby Shop Extra 300 SHP / 4S A123s

My Extta 300 gets flown as a sports plane more than as a true 3D one.
At 62 years of age my reflexs are not what they once were and in truth my 3D skills suck.
What I love about this aircraft is that it has zero bad habits and does not become a handfull in a little wind.
My Extreme Flight Yak 54E flys very similiar however it can be a bear to land ,especially in gusty winds.

FYI All of my fleet above 200 watts are powered with A123 / M1 cells.

This one and several others have been Spektrumized for the past for the past month or so.

Thumbs up Might be the one for me!

I have done extensive research (like reading the 300 SHP thread on the "other" forum) and I'm about 99% convinced this plane will be my very first "real" ARF that costs more than $25.

Built two foamies from scratch (the "Nasty" and the "Regal") and I can keep them in the air with no problem and do some crazy things with them. My flying skills finally are coming together after weeks of flying at least an hour every day . For quite a while it seemed that I was stuck and my skills weren't improving and then - BAM- it just all started clicking. What a great feeling.

Anyway...

I finally feel like I'm ready to move up to a more capable plane and the 300SHP seems like the perfect candidate. I am really fortunate because Ben and 3DHS are only 30 miles from where I live I'll drive over there one of these days with a wad of plastic!

I have had mine for one month now and have 101 flights on it and no it is not the only plane I fly just happends to be one of my favorites.

The only weak point I have found is the carbon fiber landing gear. I managed to crack mine after about 40 flights and decided to try a repair while waiting on replacements which I ordered. Repair is holding up fine and I feel gear is much stronger / more durable now.

Repair was to remove gear and wrap the top two inches or so with Spider Wire 30# test ( fishing line)and soak with thin CA.

John - I think you'll be surprised at how much this plane will help out your flying skills too. My skills and confidence have increased about 300% after owning this plane and I've only had it about 2 months.

just put flight #10, 11, and 12 on my new 47"shp and while I haven't mastered anything I have now done, because of this plane, more 3D manuevers in 12 flights than in over 200 with my other 3D planes.

While part of it is a a new simulator, some of it is how comfortable this plane makes you feel while flying it. It is smooth as silk and as wild as your ability demands it to be.

I flew my first rolling harrier with the SHP yesterday. Simply amazed by the plane. Knife edges are unreal, knife edgde spin to knife edge is so easy, blenders are simple, and I'm even warming up to harriers and hovers.

Great plane. Strong and precise. Stable and forgiving. Need I say more? (I can and probably will)

I too am surprised that the wattheads don't have a 5000 post thread on this plane.

This is a wonderful airplane. I am one of the worst flyers at my field (unofficial nick name there is "Crash") and yet this thing survives even my lack of skills.
I knocked the entire front end off while it was on the test bench, accidentally hitting the throttle stick while I foolishly had the prop on. I rebuilt it from the sticks on the ground and a half a popsicle stick. It flies despite me.

If it wasn't freezing outside I would be flying today.
Maybe I can figure a way to fly from my minivan with the heater on.

Looking forward to a non-windy day. Itching to fly this bird again. Already drooling over a 42" AJ Slick.

I am putting my old shp in the closet. I need the servos and esc for another project( for a t-rex 450 and I am too poor to buy new ones at the moment) The shp has been a great plane and I taught my brother with it(so it has some scares on it) I have my 2 slicks(42 and 51) and SR to keep me going though. It will be missed

I know I know. The shp has been beaten really bad and needs a break. So the Sr and slicks will take up the slack for a little while(it will probably be sooner than later as I am sure I will crash the heli before to long and need a place to put the parts )

No better here either in the N.East today. I'm getting 33mph winds right now with gusts over 45mph.
