We normally have the astronomy club out with their scopes Saturday night, but this year our launch coincides with a big star fest out in the panhandle, so we don't have anything to fill that space. Now I know I'm gonna take my nightfly planes with me, but I was wondering if I could maybe get a few more guys so we could publicize it in the local paper for people to come out and see.
It is on a full scale airport that maybe sees a dozen planes a year. We could fly off the runway. It's in a little town called Pawhuska: http://maps.google.com/maps?q=pawhus...N&hl=en&tab=wl If anyone could come it would be awesome. There will be concessions on site during the day. So come up, watch us (probably) blow some stuff up, then break out the planes when it gets dark!

Any other takers

Thanks for the sympathy, Doug -- we need to get our WWI planes in the air sometime soon.

Actually, I plan on doing that someday soon. I just need to find a decently priced turbine. That turbine mounted on that Funjet is WAY too much -- I'd be happy with something with a LOT less thrust. Did you see how it launched from his hand?! He didn't even need to throw it!

I may get the HK version just to see what it's all about -- now I just need HK to start selling turbines!

What I want to Know is how do you hand launch a turbine at 1/4 to 1/2 throtle and not burn your hand?

We must have watched two different videos from the same link cause the one I saw had him running like something was after him and chunking it like he was throwing a ball in from center field.

It looked effortless to me. It left his hand like a rocket -- as if he could have just let go of it without throwing it at all.

Well Guy - I'm doing what I can to prevent the city from taking the taxpayers' money and having it leased out to the private sector..... Somehow it just doesn't go over too well for me when I pay my property taxes to build and maintain nice parks only to have the city try and take them away from me.....

I will be going out to Glue Dobbers, and Turf Flyers Clubs this weekend to remind them again about the Dust Bowl event. Our Turbine demo is coming from Turf flyers, and our Heli demo was going to be from Glue Dobbers, and there have been email sent to both clubs, and flyers have been up in their club houses for 3 months, so they should all be aware of the event.
I went to Glue Dobbers last Saturday at 11am after leaving the Unclub to see if I could find another Heli Demo pilot(87deg, wind less than 10mph), but there was only 3 people at the club. When I left the Unclub there was 23 pilots there.
See, this is what happens when you have yearly club fees of $80, and AMA of $50, plus all the political crap that goes on, when all people really want to do is fly.
Thank you Unclub pilots for making the Unclub the best R/C club in Oklahoma even if we are not really an official club!
I should have better luck this weekend at Glue Dobbers, they are having their War bird fly in. They might actually get 20 pilots.
Please contact, and remind your local clubs about the Dust Bowl in a few weeks.

What a shame. Mostly the loss of life, but also the loss of another vintage WWII fighter... First the Liberty Belle B-17 and now this Mustang.. sigh...

Well, I havn't been to Willsons flying site, which is a big open area in the back of one of those housing additions on Elm, I think between 121st. & 131st. The ones I know of are the big park by the Creek turnpike (good for float flying), Also Jamie Stopforth like going to the old U control field. It's on Elm just south of 131st, on the West side of Elm. It's just on open lot maybe 4 acers between two houses.
Also there is a big open space by a park in the back of Victoria Pond housing adition. Victoria Pond is on 111th between Elm and Elwood, closer to Elwood.

Here are some pics of a plane I have for sale. Its the Great Planes Patriot XL. It's New in the Box, 55" WS, 8.5 lbs, takes a 60 2 stroke, or a 90 4 stroke.

It cost new $130, I'll take $60 just to get rid of it. I don't need a glow plane, and I'm not sure this would make a good EP conversion.
If any of you are members at Glue Dobbers, or Turf Flyers, please pass on the info, thanks.

SOLD

I had a great time at the Dust Bowl, I didn't get to fly much on Sat, but still had a great time.
I want to thank all the Unclub/Tulsa guys for being there and supporting MS. I counted 13 from the Unclub, but there may have been more. We were easily over 1/4 of the pilots there, and we do this every week. The Unclub is awesome!

Hello, anyone out there?

Here is some info on the Park Jet MKII, that I flew at the field on Sat. It flew much better than I expected, and is now my new fun plane. I flew the stock set up with a 2 cell 1050 lipo, and got about 8 min flights.
Here is the link for the kit I flew. http://hobbyking.com/hobbyking/store...ixer_ARF_.html

Here is the link for the air frame only. http://hobbyking.com/hobbyking/store...kJet_KIT_.html

Here is a link for the flight test guys video on the Park Jet. You should watch all their videos, their names are Josh, and Josh, and they are Funny!

Here is a link for the build forum on RCG. Go to the last 3 or 4 pages. It starts out with the original PJ on a smaller motor, then goes to the PJ MKII with the 3000kv like mine. Also a lot of mods, and hop ups.http://www.rcgroups.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1281980

That should cover most everything you need to know about the HK Park Jet MKII. Everyone needs one of these little wings!

Surfer dude, Id be interested in the glow stick if you think it'd make for a good aileron trainer. I have a Super Cub LP that I have learned to fly on and I'm ready to step up to an aileron trainer. I recently (yesterday) purchased a Hangar 9 Alpha .40 sized trainer with a Spektrum DX5E but I'd like to train on something a little more forgiving. What size battery would I need for the glow stick? Thanks, Keith.

I've used a 3 cell 1300, all the way up to a 3 cell 2200, but I think the best size lipo for it would be a 3 cell 1600. I have all of these sizes, and will sell you some if you want them.
I think the Alpha .40 would be easier to fly than the Glow stick. The Glow Stick is a flat, almost symmetrical wing. It's pretty fast, and goes where you point it, no self correction. You have to fly it all the time.
It's a great plane, and one of the best lit night fly planes that I've made, but I just don't get to fly it that much.
I will sell it to you if you want it, but IMO, It's not a trainer.
