Default "5EZP" Grumman A-6 INTRUDER

My Louisiana cousin crashed his Freewing Intruder a few weeks ago. So I decided to show him you don't have to spend $400 to fly a model of the INTRUDER.

The fifth thumbnail looks like a skull. The entire build looks great.

Well I'm standing at the hangar door here in stormy "Windiana". Looks like it will be Thursday before weather will clear and a "5EZP" INTRUDER maiden flight can be attempted.

The RETURN OF THE INTRUDER after three flights and three hard landings (or what some might call crashes) and then resulting repairs to her tail including carbon reinforcement as well as fixing her busted nose.
This was a late afternoon flight on the same day as the maiden flight which took place at noon. The winds had calmed from 10 to 6 mph. My GOPRO was still dead so once again I used my MOBIOUS camera with the wide angle lens.

Plans will be posted soon.
Coming soon is a flight with an on board camera. I wanted to see how much if any the tail section was twisting inflight .he twisting seems minimal. Here is another Flight of the "5EZP" Intruder.

Default New 5ezp a^ intruder build

I've been trying to decide which prop in the slot park jet to build next. I wanted to expand my foam model building skills and finally decided to give Mr. Daeronort's 5EZp A6 Intruder at 100 % plan size. With the COG shown on the plan and the availability of a build video, I hope I can be successful. My general plan is to do a rough build of the model first to understand how the parts go together to identify any pitfalls and then I will do a second final build keeping weight, fit and finish as positive as possible. If anybody has any motor/prop and ESC combination suggestions , I would appreciate a heads up. With a wing span of over 37" long , I'm guessing a high KV quad motor is out of the question because of the weight and drag demanding a higher torque motor. I also plan to activate the rudder in some way , even if it's just an under rudder beneath the horizontal stab to be effective with the air flow.

ROCKETCHRIS -
I used a Grayson Hobby Micro-jet motor (2200kv w 6x4 prop) initially. I swapped it out for a GH MJv2 (92500kv) which improved the performance greatly.
I built a new one at 80% and used the Micr-Jet motor again.
The intruder makes a wonderfully stable flyer and a good ground skimmer.

Thanks for the information Mr. Daeronort. I'm torn between your F16 design and the intruder. If I'm successful with the intruder , I sure would like to tackle the F16. I have a GH micro jet V3 available, but it sounds like I better buy a GH MJV2 for the intruder.

Also, I wanted to thank you so much for the HO 229 plan and your advice. It's the fastest and best flying park jet my son and I have. I built it at 80% and put a GH Mega jet with a 6x5.5. prop in it. Wow does that thing scoot. The HO 229 has also made me and my son better pilots I think because of the aerobatic ability. Again, thanks for for your kindness and generiousity with your knowledge

Default all 17 Pieces Of The 5EZP Intruder Cut OUt !

I managed to cut out all 17 pieces of the 5EZP A-6 intruder out of Lowes fan fold foam. Time to get busy learning how this thing goes together.
