Default Sjm 400

Well, I went to the hobby shop to price out a Trex 450SA and after , when I was in the parking lot, a guy said he had a nice bird for sale for $675.

It is called a SJM 400 and it has top of the line everything on it. So went went to this guys place and bought it. It is a beautiful heli! All aircraft aluminum and carbon fiber. It has an upgraded tail setup also. But the only problem is that I still need to buy the TX, battery, charger, and cell balancer which will bring me up to about $1300 total amount. I love it already even though I can't fly it yet until I get the parts for it. He flew it in his basement for a bit and it flew great!

Any opinions on my purchase?

Thanks,
-Eric

Have you found where you can get spare parts?

No, but there is a heli that has some of the same parts but I forget the name.
I'm pretty sure you might be able to get them online somewhere.

Sounds a bit expensive. I bought my SJM 400 II in Denmark, Europe for what equals apr.550$ and it was Ready To Fly. Only needed batteries for the transmitter.

Well the only reason it's so expensive in the end is because I am getting a JR XP9303 TX which is about $565 Canadian and im getting a Triton 2 peak charger and Equinox cell balancer also.
Also , my heli has a JR R790 synthesized receiver and a Futaba GY401 gyro.

Ok, then it's about the same price as here. I didn't notice you were from Canada, so I calculated in USD. That also makes a difference.

On the other hand I could buy a good transmitter, charger and the GY401 in addition to my RTF Sjm 400, and still end below 1300 canadian. That would leave me with some spareparts

Anyway its an amazing chopper. Its my first and I am just beginning to hover fairly stable (a couple of seconds at least :p )

It's not until now I begin to appreciate the skill of the 3D-helipilots I've seen on the web It takes a LOT of practice!

Haha, I haven't even flown mine yet because I haven't got the radio and stuff. Should be here in a couple weeks though! Can't wait to fly it!
Mine will be alot easier to fly because I got it prebuilt and tuned from the other guy. He reccommended me get the XP9303 because it's a great TX and he has one so he can just transfer his info to my TX.

-I will post some pics in a new thread.

Yeah, that is a good thing. I will probably get me a better transmitter soon, as there is no adjusting and storing possibilities in mine. Would like to have one with a display and memory for a couple of models
