Default Light Weight Covering Material Hot Humid Weather

Was recovering wing on my Tritle Cessna 140 in hot garage in high humidity. Was using Coverite Microlite. Material kept curling back on, and sticking to, itself driving me bonkers. There are various methods of reducing such sticky problems like dusting material lightly with talcum powder, attaching masking tape to the edges, etc. I had best luck with masking tape and finally got the wing covered reasonably neatly. Best not to try covering in hot humid weather. I think that the adhesive is much less sticky at lower temperatures and material is less flexible less prone to folding back on itself while you remove the backing and attempt to position it.

My trick :

Take your covering and cut to size with reasonable overlap.

Place on area to cover and align ... (backing STILL in place).

Take two strips of masking tape and fix one ends corners / edge by tape on top and onto adjoining surface. Check still in position ...

Now fold back carefully using tape as a hinge.

Peel back FROM the fold line - a short length across the film - the backing.... folding the backing under the film towards you.

Tack down that far edge and corners.

Now pull on backing while smoothing film down ...

When backing is about to come away from end of film near you ... stop at last moment and making sure film is straight etc. - tack that end and remove backing ... tacking down final end.

Now you can go round the film edges pulling and tacking without it folded back on itself .. etc.
