in a 69 Mopar Road Runner with a 413 police intercepter engine, 4 speed, posi, and the car got to feeling very lite, I had the speedo pegged, its a 160mph speedo, and had more pedel, but no more nerve Chellie, Hows That Lanie :p

There are restrictions as far as the FAA and AMA are concerned. The AMA authorized speed limit is 200mph. Of course not everyone fly's at AMA sanctioned fields, but hopefully if they are flying at these speeds, they are in an isolated area if not at a club.
There are competitions for high speed hotliners (F5B) that are designed to push the airframes and pilots skills to the limit. 150 mph is a drop in the hat to these airplanes.

Ok..I got the awards worked out. If you check my profile and post information on the left, you'll see them. There is a 100, 125, 150 and 200. I am working on a way to nominate or request these awards, but think it might just be better to sticky a thread and let it be the communication focal point.

Hey guys..
Thought I would put in my 2 cents on the speed ranges. I have found a few hurdles that most seem to run into when going for speed. 100mph is definitely the first elusive goal one I think. The next wall seems to be around 120mph After that 140mph followed by 150mph then it gets real slim because it is really tough to get past that so I think from there on it should be by 175mph and 200mph +. Reason, because in my opinion you are in another power class and those numbers are easier to reach with those type setups. I really think there should be a 160mph category for electric setups cause that is a real feat for those motors but in the interest of keeping the number of awards down I think these 5 are real speed goals according to the lipo/motor structure we run on.

P.S. We havnt talked about diving entries or verifying wind direction or making two runs back to back in opposite directions etc etc. All those pesky "contest like" requirements that might be present if we were trying to make this some sort of official thing.
Im all for keeping it loose and easy. If the dopplar run shows the speed - up wind down wind down hill or up hill - then its good enough for me
I do think maybe somene other than the pilot should provide the confirming dopplar though
Unless we all want to do it differently?

Thank You Very much for all the Hard work that you have put in to this, There was no way before to group all the people that have gone 100 mph+, and this thread just helps to gather the Speeders and give them an Expensive Award for there accomplishment, and helps others to learn how to make a fast plane, set up, Etc.
