I could wear shorts here if I did not mind frostbite of the knee.

It's been BITTERLY COLD here but I got in the first flight of the year when temps made it all the way to 39F and winds were down to 11MPH.

Back down to 18F today, with winds gusting to 35MPH. I think I'll stay inside.

Yeah. I'm about ready to start tearing airplanes apart to build new airplanes from the pieces.

Also, I've been building guitars and amps from cigar boxes and "Altoids" tins. You know: to keep busy.

Cool Mark,do they play pretty good? Do you sell them?
I have 5 right now, but i haven't built any.
Among them is Gretch and Fender and Ibanez.
I still play them but not as much as i used to.

Crash - I don't really play guitar, so I can't give you an unbiased opinion on that. I just went on a tear, and built a handful of full-sized cigar box guitars for Christmas gifts, as well as some cigar box amps, and then a bunch of little "Altoids" guitars.

So far I've only given them as gifts, but I've started an Etsy store to see if I can sell a few.

Thanks. I never could have done it without RC, which is where I learned that I can actually build things if I try.

Meanwhile:
Dangerous wind chills are expected Tuesday morning. Values of 15 to 20 below will be common for much of the area. Remember to dress in layers. Cover exposed skin to reduce your risk of frostbite and hypothermia.

Latvia finally dropping into winter mode .... yesterday temps started dropping .... today we have -8C and light snow falling.

We should be up to our knees in snow and -20C by now but last few years weather has been terrible and more like UK style.

Lite snow here this morning and below zero again.

Seeing the Cigar Box Guitars ...

I have a Balalaika on the wall in my party room ... its OLD !! Rescued from my Wifes family relative who passed away ... it was in his 'garage' .... local illegal distillery and drinking den.
I also rescued a painting made by a Life Sentenced Murderer who gave it to the Nurse who tended him in his last days in prison ... from same 'garage'. Its BIG painting ... near covers that wall ..

The painting depicts what is called a Troika .. a 3 horse affair favoured in deep Russia. I always thought it showed the painters despair in his situation ... convicted of murder and condemned to see out his days in solitary apart from the nurses visits.

The Balalaika - had lost its strings so I used thin stranded cable to substitute ... that darned thing plays !!

You can see it on the back wall ... (thats Ben - the kindest dog you could ever meet)

Sorry to hijack thread ...

Back to weather - total crap !

Got up to 40 today snow on the ground at the house, so I went to the field and go several flights in. Maidened a Jenny, flew the trusty Superfly, and got in a few flights with a HK Arctic Cat. Bought all three home in one piece and had a great afternoon. Tonight we're supposed to have more snow and temperatures in single digits.

Easy build, flies nicely but not as well as your jet. Takes off from grass and snow well, haven't had a chance to try it on water yet. The main issue I'm having is keeping the carbon-fiber reinforcements to stay stuck to the foam.

If you mean the MIG 29 .... that has a bit of modification !!
