Bit sparse on how to put tail feathers on ... has tail piece as well - doesn't seem to fit ...
I didn't like idea to have 3 layers of 6mm for the wing - so main is 6mm, then the two KF sections are 3mm ...
My spar is 9 x 9mm pine cut on my bench so I have uniform knots or faults.

Servo set-up ....
The plan shows it as basically elevator / aileron .... but I thought I would use some old glider experience and add in V tail mixing.
So here are two servos for Elevator / Rudder via VTail :
And the two aileron servos mounted to top of wing to avoid damage on ground ..
and the leads under 'hot glue' tacked into place.
Simple 4ch only ... I did think to add spoilers but that would mean using more chs and the spare Rx I have is the 4ch ...
I think she'll be fine.
2204 1440 kv withy 8x4 flexi prop ... 3S 1750 ..... should see her away once I put all in and box her up - fueslage is still without top and motor ...

I've been away from home ... but now back ...
I've set Rx / Battery / ESC and she balances spot on the recc'd point.
Just finishing the cosmetics ....
I'm undecided what to do with the wing - its big and very wide. To rubber band it needs really long bands ...

Today is not so bad ... snow is melting so a bit soggy out there .... but not much wind ... sunny sky ...
I have a couple of 1300 3S charging ... the Soloshot3 is charged up .... TAG mount fitted to the Eagle ...
Once I have all ready - I shall go across the road and give her a maiden. I hope all goes well ...

Well grossly out of alignment ... its not CoG as that is actually fwd of recc'd spot.
It appears that tail needs to be pitched DOWN ... as I reckon wing may be AoA too high. Plus probably a touch more motor down may help.
Video :
VIDEO
Repairs are not bad ... repair front end of course, scarf split rear fuselage, reglue tail with touch of down in it. The SS3 mount broke apart ... its 3D printed and sides sheered of. That will be cut away and replaced.
She did fly at least ... just needs that pitch problem sorted. The bank to left I think was due to her pitching up and wind slightly to the right of her.

Finally sorted her ... the plan was not very good at tail end and I just glued up as shown. All looked OK by eye - but as seen - she reared up violently.
Back on the bench - I measured all ... wing to tail etc. Found that Tail had excessive incidence near 10 deg.
Cut out the tail ... refixed with zero.
WOW ! what a difference ...
VIDEO
Pity about the crap motor. Will have to change it for a better one.
But pleased that she flies and she does look good in the air.

Yep ... you get so used to aileron / elevator ... that its instinctive to correct with them. But this Eagle responds better to the rudder function ... took a few sec's to get used to that. I use Mode 2.
I have been wondering whether to swap the rudder over to right stick ... with ailerons over to left ... as they can be literally forgotten.

What amazed me - I could take hands of the sticks and just let her fly on ... many of the level sections - I just let her glide across the field throttle at about 45%, only touching sticks to turjn her back again.
The addition of ailerons, may not be best for pulling turns, but really helps smooth out those flat turns that real Eagles tend to make ...

Very cool, I think I'll build one.
A friend asked me to help with his foam eagle he had bought on line, he had modified it to have ailerons and he couldn't get it to fly. I found the ailerons totally ineffective, so I just flew it with the V tail, it flew fine then. I never tried mixing the ailerons into the V tail. I was going to get one, but it was $100 plus shipping so that didn't happen. I have lots of $tree and Flitetest foamboard so I think this one will happen. Thanks

The ailerons are good to help keep turns flat ... but yes - the V Tail is the main control setup.
I have kept the rudder part of the V still on my left stick (Mode 2) and ailerons on right. Why ? To make me use the left stick !! I have many models that benefit from being able to use rudder ... but also many models that you can basically set throttle and let that stick go ... so better to keep my left stick practice ...
