RC Foater sent this to me... Can you help answer his question?

2013-03-30 Tyro 150 Power System Question - Input requested

I am building a Mountain Models Tyro 150. This will be my first powered trainer. It seems a good trainer: high wing, tricycle, flat bottom airfoil, low wing loading, can be flown slow, etc. I have only flown polyhedral gliders in the past: Gentle Lady, Bird of Time, Southern Kite, etc. so this will be my first R-E-A plane.

The Tyro designer recommended an Eflite Park 480 1020 Kv so I am using that.

My question concerns the other power system components.

After reading lots of articles in Wattflyer on power systems I plan on the following. (Specs Follow) Any and all comments welcome.

Plane: Tyro 150

Motor: Eflite Park 480 1020 Kv

Prop: Eflite 12 x 6 Slow Flyer Prop

Battery: 2200mAh 3S 11.1V 30C LiPo, 13AWG EC3

ESC: 40-Amp Pro Switch-Mode BEC Brushless ESC [EFLA1040]

Radio: Spektrum DX6i DSMX 6 Channel Full Range http://www.spektrumrc.com/products/d...prodid=spm6610

Specific questions:

Will the plane - motor - prop combo be easy on the battery life?

Is the ESC too large or should I go with a 35 or 30 A?

Would a larger battery be a good idea? A similar 2500 mAh would only take the weight from 6.1oz to 6.8oz. Many Tyro 150 forum posts mention that weight is not a problem. Is there any advantage to a smaller (1800mAh 3S 11.1V at 5.8 oz) battery?

Would a 10 X 5 prop overload the system?

A club member has a watt meter so we can check that on the ground.

Should I invest in a data logger? I looked at a an Eagle Tree V4 http://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/s..._100_Amps.html
