Default Spectrum Compatable Receivers ???

Anyone have any experience with these recievers on spectrum radios?

http://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/s...dProduct=11965

I have a couple of older foam models that just aren't worth putting the money into good receivers. Wondered if these recievers would work?

I have not used those personally but there are a lot of people who have:

Search the radio forum using "orange" and there are a lot of posts about the experience, some good some not so good.

I have (2) of the Orange RX's. One in a 3D foam profile plane, one in a foam Dr.1

I haven't had an issue with either - but neither plane gets more than 100' away. I did range test them, the do appear to have about the same range limitations as the AR6100's

For me - I'm willing to put them in small/light/"close in" type aircraft. But you won't see one in the FunJet, the 1/12 scale Corsair or anything that's got any speed (or that I can't replace easy)

TY for the responses guys. I am not planning to put them in anything I really care about, just a couple of old GWS foam planes that I do fly pretty close in. I guess I will give them try.

Thanks

I have 9 of them in use with no problems whatsoever. A buddy put one in a 40 size plane and flew it out to about a 1000 ft. close to the ground with no problems. They also have a satelite rcvr that plugs into the side of this one making it a full range rcvr. Just waiting for mine to come in.

Gord.

IMHO, outside of the fact that these might be copies of the original Spektrum system, I wonder which microchips they are using. The wide temperature range units? or the "Indoor" temperature units?

Some readers may recall the Spektrum advertisement where they put their receiver inside of a heat chamber, and heated it until the receiver plastic case melted, before it quit.

Flew these down to about 20F this past winter. That's all my poor little pinkys can handle. I leave my transmitt at home. Don't want it to crack from the cold.
