When I was looking to join a club, there was one that was much closer, but much more confined. My friend was a member there. The people were great, but when I seen this field, I was hooked! I don't know if anuone's measured, but I bet it's a quarter mile or more to the nearest tree.

Any time bud. Is Tidewater a member of the new Hampton Roads RC Council? I think they are, if so any member in good standing of any club belonging to the council can fly at any field associated with same.
In simple terms we can all fly at each others fields.
When I get back from SEFF we'll hook up and do some flying.

Hello there. I'm a new flyer. Just starting out and live in Williamsburg. Trying to get a handle on local resources and meet up with other flyers to learn from. Any suggestions on how to do that? From what i'm gathering on here it probably isn't a great idea to locate a field and then just show up. Though I could be wrong.
FYI I'm a whelelchair using vet(medically retired navy aviation mech). But im pretty versatile at getting around.
Looking forward to your inputs.

Welcome to our addiction, SB. I don't know of any club in the area that wouldn't welcome a new flyer to their field. I just showed up at the TRC field one weekend as a complete newbie to the hobby. I was warmly received and even had a few lessons from one of the instructors with my new plane before making the decision to become a member. There's a club in the Williamsburg area...don't be shy!

If that one doesn't work out and you'd rather come to Newport News we can help you out as well. I'm the club secretary and I can get you in touch with any of our trainers. I'm retired AF and we have a lot of retired NAvy as well.
