I have a few worn out petrol powered strimmers and I've been wondering if its possible to convert to BL E-Motor .....
My boat channel needs clearing of weeds and reeds .... so I wondered if I could convert one of them to mount on side of a dinghy to cut the weeds. Power could be from genny with voltage reducer to give unlimited run.
Given a medium sized Strimmer - what sort of BL motor would be needed ?? It would have to spin up the metal blade - not the nylon line.

I have a couple of garden irrigation pumps (220v) that the pumps are shot ... but the motors are still OK.
Maybe I can graft one of those onto a whacker shaft and then run the Genny I have in the boat.
The other alternative is to get a long shaft Hedge Trimmer ... but I notice most have the e-motor near the cutting end ... so would need to be gasoline type.
Tks Chellie ... interesting ... just wondering why he did that - as an electric shop bought similar to what he has is not expensive ?
