Default Flying over Cape Henlopen, Delaware

Spent a few days at my parents' for Thanksgiving. The entire time we were there, the weather was perfect for flying. Today, the wind came up. My goal was to get aerial video from my Wild Hawk over Cape Henlopen state Park. Today, the wind was 15+ mph steady out of the west. I was really nervous about something going horribly wrong and watching the Hawk blow out to sea. In fact, it was some of the best flying I have experienced. The dunes gave the winds a nice uplift coming off Delaware Bay and over the Atlantic. I could almost hover the hawk right over the point.

I'm also an avid fisherman, so I think I can put this RC video thing to good use! It gives a great view of the sand bars and holes along the beach. Stripers and blues beware!

Thanks, Bonez. I was nervous, but determined. I wish I had taken the Hawk more to the east and out over the ocean. Next time I'm down in DE, I want to do an "aerial tour of cool stuff."

Nice flight! I have caught a many trout and bluefish on the Oceanside of that point.. The point is 30 mins from my Del. home. You can get some really nice slope soaring south of the point towards the Fort Miles, when the wind comes in from the east off the ocean. I was flying in Milford all weekend. Great video!!

Thanks, TM4197! I'm a Sussex County native, myself. But I live in Pee-Ayy now. I blame my wife. I grew up running all over Cape Henlopen. One of my friend's dad was the park manager back in the '80's. We found so many cool things by going off the beaten path! One of the coolest was the remains of fairly large drones shot down for target practice. Oh, and there is a healthy cranberry bog somewhere in the park, too.

Awesome flight Teach! Sounds like you have a brushless powering your plane. Have you modded your Wild Hawk with ailerons to help handle the wind?

Yep, I've added ailerons. Best part about this plane is, I found her in the trash! She was fully intact, minus a transmitter. Love this airplane!
