It's easy enough once you get over the fear factor, but i prefer doing it with a much bigger heli with a lit more altitude, gives you more room for error.

Good point, altitude is your friend.

The problem isn't flipping it... The problem is getting it back level and stable before it hits the ground.

Anyone can slam the stick hard over and get a flip (or several)

That's not really a 'proper' flip though as a flip is supposed to rotate on the spot. To do a flip properly you have to vary cyclic as the heli rotates. When upright you have positive cyclic, when vertical you have the blades feathered and when inverted you have negative.

It's not hard really but a big heli rotates slower which makes it easier, as does altitude if you get it wrong. You need the reactions on a mongoose to fly the micros.

Flipping my big helicopters is much easier. For someone learning a simulator is a great tool. I see some new pilots rush and try to get the flip over as fast as possible. On the sim I recommend inverted hover practice. Then when learning a flip with a little inverted practice you can pause a moment inverted and level the heli then complete the flip. IMO a sim and a micro will make you a much better pilot faster and save you some money on your bigger helicopters.

Love the "reactions of a mongoose" reference, and totally agree!
