Hey guys. I live in Moorpark and I was wondering when/where you guys fly. I'm trying to get myself a plane soon and I'd love to hang out with some fellow WattFlyers. it seems the bulk of us in So Cal are closer to you (as far as I can tell)

Hi Firestem and Welcome to Wattflyers, before you get your Plane, come out and Chat with us, we will all point you in the right direstion, so that you dont waste your money with some junk RTF plane that will not work very well or not at all, over 100 years of combined RC experiance in the Renegade Rc Fliers club. Take care, Chelllie

Well, the little scratch mustang flew once more before finally buying-it bigtime.....I threw the fastest motor/prop combo I had on 3s trying like hell to avoid the dreaded tip stall come death spiral and it did well until the first split-s I tried with it 150' up or so. Shoulda heard the thump and the subsequent reverberation as it went in (insert taps military funeral music here). Way too much damage to overcome this time, so it's out with the electronics and on to the next project.....a scratch L-19 Bird Dog

(see pics of planes and wifey of 20yrs )I'll have a tried and true, slow as hell, 25min flight time SS with me as well as a neat 3D plane that actually taught my son and I to fly aileron
It also got my left thumb working on take off and landing!

I'll bring some chips and dip......a pack of dogs......anything we're missin?

lookin forward to sunday,
Ray

If you guys are doing this sunday I could ride my bike down to there. Wouldnt have a plane obviously (I'm afraid strapping a plane to my motorcycle - even though idont have one; would give me JUST enough lift to take off =P )

Anywho, I dont have a controller either. I only have a 2ch for my R/C Monster Truck, although if you need radio-crystals I have 2 =D.

Come on over Fire if you've learned to stear a truck ,a plane will be easy for you. And a helocopter you could do blind folded. LOL We now have a Simple Stick w/ ailerons trainer and a buddy box cord that we'll get you to try flyin on that. Wrench , some war birds do split S es (in the movies and on the Military Channel) and some war birds don't. Probably you wern't watching your "6" .LOL

lol, and it sure as hell didnt stop me from riding over...and unfortunately riding back in 102 degree weather...Eventually hit 106 through Pasadena *cry*.

It was a lot of fun. thanks for the opportunity to fly the slow-stick Chellie. I really can't wait to get into this now.. I went over to my local hobby store and looked at what they have. They have a Slow-V which is essentially exactly the same as the slow stick but instead of rudder/elevator. its a 2 rudder's in a V at the tail. How well does that work? Moderately priced RTF. and going to look around for a cheap DX6/i

If your gonna get the dx6i, I'd skip the slow'v, and get a slowstick

Here's a slowstick.... I Have extra servo's and an esc for it....

http://www3.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin...?&I=LXHCJ3&P=0

you'll want to get either one of these motors... I perfer the $20 one because its a little more crash resistant...

Yea if you are going to get a spektrum radio right away dont even bother with a RTF kit, get one of those GWS no power systems and add your own parts you will save a lot of money.

I'd Find out what battery chellie's flying on her slowstick, prob 1300 3cell... I flew mine with 2250 3cell Loongmax battery which got like 25-30 min flight..., but I would suggest a light battery for you because in the event of a bad crash, The large Batterys tend to eject from the slowstick and its cheaper to replace a $10 battery... not saying it will eject or anything, but its less likely with a lighter battery, still should give about 15 minutes or so...
