Default Found!!!

Yesterday I posted that my G370 dissappered after flying over some woods and getting caught in some turbulent air. Today I and happy to report I managed to find it partially intact, the prop was broke, everything else appeaares to ok. Haven't tested the mottor or anything like that yet, hopefully I didn't burn up the esc or motor.

Do the more experienced guys have GPS trackers on their planes? Particularly the long range FPV guys?

I lost one of mine once and the lips was shot from running down. Check that

I have a beeper on some of mine but GPS gets a little impractical.

how big are your aircraft? sure having a 1/4lb device on a 1lb aircraft is kinda dumb but if you have a 100lb, $5000 fpv distance flier I would imagine the $30 expense would be worth it...

Glad you found it. Thank goodness if wasn't out in the wild long enough to turn feral.

Years back I lost a nice balsa Biplane on its maiden. I was young, and dumb, and balanced it on the lower wing. This put my CG back by quite a bit.
I got her in the air and somehow managed to keep it undulating at about 150 feet. It would drop 20 feet, gain speed and loft back up 20 feet. I somehow managed to keep this going for about 200 yards as the wind pushed it along, pretty deeply into some thick woods, in August. In hindsight, i should have just dropped the throttle and at least salvaged some electronics. It had a big AXI, 4 new HB65's, a pricey AR6000, Align 35 amp ESC and a $50 2000mAh 3s in it. Again, these were 2009 prices.
Couldn't find it in the thick thorn and mosquito infested woods for many hours.

Finally, no kidding, on Christmas Eve. I stopped by the flying field. I saw my wing sticking out of a trash can! Battery was gone but that was it. AR6000 was full of water. I replaced the bearings in the HB65's and still fly then in a foamy. ESC Still works, in another foamy. Motor got new bearings but magnets came loose. Most likely rust.

Here is an item I wish I would have used. I doubt it has a low voltage cutoff so could ruin a battery but a plane with a ruined battery is better than a lost one with a good battery.

Guess I'll have check out those alarms out. I feel extremely lucky that nothing else besides a prop was damaged. Also I checked out the motor and esc and the servo's and they check out. Haven't checked out the battery yet/
