Default Pico Tigermoth or Big Tigermoth 400?

I need to choose one of those two. I want to use NiMH batteries, not lipos. I also want to use rudder and elevator only (Maybe i can install ailerons in the future?). Does it make sense to get the more expensive and bigger $73.50 TM400? Id preffer to get the cheaper $50.75 pico tigermoth but only if i can use NiMH battries.

thoughts?

If you are going with rudder and elevator you are better off with the Pico TM. The TM400 is designed to work with ailerons.
You can use Nimh batteries in the Pico TM just fine. When it came out no one was using lipos yet in them'
It was designed to use a 150 mah nicad.

Keep it nice and light and fly it in little to no wind and you will love it.

With the TM400 you will definitely want, at minimum, a 3S lipo and ailerons. The way it fly's, it's worth it. Tom

Well, it really depends on what you want. I picked up a non-painted sloper 400 for $40. Since I have all the equipment for it already (scavanged from a crashed plane), a sloper was all I needed. You could probably get one, and a sp400 motor for another $10. So for the price of the pico, you could get the 400.

The GWS Pico TIGER MOTH wins the prize of being the most enjoyable and slow flying "Scale" Foam model in the market.

I don't think nothing comes close to it...

I flew my very first GWS Pico TIGER MOTH today and what an enjoying time and model!

Completely STOCK, IPS Motor Power System with GWS "Slow Flyer" 9 X 7 propeller and using the Kokams 1025mAH, 2-Cell, 8C, Li-POLYs and GWS Pico Standard Servos.

Once in the air this little 9 1/8 oz. fully loaded GWS Pico TIGER MOTH flew with such scale manners that I could bring her in super close to Gerry as he took several nice in-flight pictures and I was able to thread the model inbetween us as it passed by at least 2 MPH speed!

This model takes the Award for being super slow! :p

As much as I like super fast Sport Models, this Pico Tiger Moth is a keeper with the IPS power system and swinging the GWS "Slow Flyer" 9 X 7 propeller using the Kokam 1025mAH, 2-Cell, 7.4 Volt, 8C, Li-POLYs. I used the GWS Pico Standard servos.
It looked great in the air, just a wonderful day of "Close-to-Home" Flying!

Just a great model!

Here's a flew pictures that my buddy took with his SLR Digital Camera.

He calls it completely stock. You have to look close to see the flying wires that he has added. A definite improvement. It makes it loop a lot better. The cabane can be stock, but the struts need a layer of 32nd balsa. The landing gear needs a brace added behind it to keep it from cutting into the fuselage.
My first motor wore out and I liked it so much the way it flew I just stuck another one in it. Didn't even consider and upgrade of anykind. I have flown this one with the Etec 2s700's from day one.
I do have the 400 also and prefer to the pico for ease of handling.

Wow! Over 10 years ago and I still have my Beloved pico Tiger Moth!

Can't believe how time has flown!

It is still in flying condition and looking the best ever still.

Also, it is the slowest model I have in my fleet.

Guys!

Keep your shirts on! It seems like it was not until December 3rd, 2007 that I didn't place a pilot figure on my pico Tiger Moth!
