Default Convergence VTOL Experiences

Just unboxed the E-flite Convergence VTOL, new on the market. Was disappointed to see the manual covers the Bind n Fly version. I have the Plug n Play version. Very little help in the manual for that set up. I'll post my success and/or failures as I go. Trying to get it set up with an Assan RX. Please post if you've had any success with the Plug n Play version.

Subscribed. Interesting craft. I'm sure HH will help you.

Got more help from Hitec than from HH. I switched channels 5 and 6 and got decent results on the bench. Will maiden tomorrow.

Successful maiden. This plane is a hoot. Scary transition from hover to flight; need altitude for sure. In flight, the motors are angled up at about 20 degrees. Was concerned when I saw that during bench testing, but it's right. Be sure to be in STAB mode, for gyro help. I'm using a Hitec TX; I can advise any fliers using this set up.

My wife put one of these planes under the Christmas tree for me, we opened every thing a few hours ago.

The reason the PNP is not covered in depth, is because the plane is capable of using any 6+ channel Rx of any brand, so they can't give you the information for all of them. Even 72 MHz would work.

They do show where the different channel connectors from your Rx to the Flight Controller would go.

I will maiden the plane? Drone? aircraft tomorrow.

I just have to change the EC3 connector to XT60

Okay I got the Convergence off the ground, but I don't think I would call it a maiden flight, that would imply some sort of control.

It definitely wasn't the planes fault, I was just too rusty to think straight.

That is one video, I'm not going to post

Default High maintenance craft

I started this thread excited about this plane. It's proven to be a pain in the XXX. For starters, it's a battery hog and behaves badly on low battery voltage. I get MAX 5 mins., not the 6 in the manual, with a HK Zippy 2200, 45C. And if the battery starts failing in flight, look out.

The latest is it won't fully initialize. I get the dreaded blinking blue light on the controller board, but also get nacelle motion (down then up) but no rotation with throttle. Also no response to "rudder" inputs.

Anyone have an idea what's going on? This started very suddenly (no impacts), so maybe board failure. Ugh!

P.S. HH help desk suggested re-binding the RX. That didn't work.
