GEICO = Government Employees Insurance COmpany. This was the auto insurance company that was initially available to US Government employees only. But in the 90's they branched out and became generally available nationwide. Now they are one of the largest auto insurance companies in the USA.

Their current ad spot for their website has the tagline: "So simple a caveman can do it", and they have upset cavemen in their TV advertising. Pretty funny stuff really. In fact, I heard a rumor that one of the networks will be making a sitcom based on the GEICO cavemen. What is the world coming to!

OK, too much information. Sorry. :p

Nope, UK. I liked the first voiceover guy better. The current guy sounds a little overdone on the accent.

I like one of the current radio spots with the gecko. It goes something like:

"Asking whether or not you want to save money with GEICO is like the Queen asking if you'd rather have dinner at the palace or the castle. Either way, you having filet mignon tonight!"

You are correct sir. This project is in the works, being produced by ABC.

CAVEMEN

Some people are complaining this is offensive to cavemen, like the Fighting Illini Chief Illiniwek is offense to native americans. In both cases, I say the same thing: bring me an offended caveman (or an offended illini), both rather difficult as they both no longer exist.

I say bring it on. I'll try watching it at least once.

And back to the topic:

My favorite college team is the Florida State Seminoles as I grew up in Tallahassee where the university is. Some years ago during this whole PC movement (my High School mascot went from Redskins to Raiders, sheesh ) there was a push to rename FSU to something else. Well, there was a huge uproar, both from the boosters, AND the heads of the Seminole Indian Tribe. The tribal leaders said they were HONORED to have FSU use the Seminole name. Just goes to show.
