Need for Lipo battery balancer?

You need a balancer, without it the batteries will differ in voltage. If one cell goes too low, it is shot. During charging if one cell goes too high it is flames.
But you can buy a balancing charger from FMA for $65 see http://www.fmadirect.com/products.htm?cat=45&nid=4
Mine is a LIPOCH4S03-A123 and I see that once it balanced the charge, it could charge all three cells to max, and I got more flight time!
I got the laptop interface, but you don't need it, the LCD readout tells you everything.
